152 drivers caught breaking law on A66 in two weeks

it doesn’t say how many were HGV drivers…
cwherald.com/a/stories/152-d … 34737.html

183 cars x £60 fine = £10,980! :open_mouth:

Then…

A combined mix of vans and HGV’s… Another £3600!

Or are the fines higher now for large goods vehicles…?

Kerching for somebody… :imp:

Fixed penalty fines are now £100

Looks like they were mostly picking up dangerous overtakes which is why they placed themselves strategically at a junction where they knew there’d be some. I bet it was at the bottom of that hill eastbound on the Scotch Corner side where it goes from DC to single A road. They’re always running speed traps there.

■■■■■■■ Police…

sounds like it was worth their while hiring that plain white scanny unit then!!

B…

Any truck drivers found guilty for going over 40 on the single bits or over 50 on the dual roads?

Thing is sticking to 40 makes other drivers sick and trying to overtake in mental places…

Int it time to upgrade the whole road to dual carriageway with proper junctions and stop targeting people trying to get on??

So 152 drivers caught in their clamp down yet… the road has been closed 3 times in the last 7 days and their clamp down is meant to be working? Seems it got worse since it started!

gov.uk/government/speeches/ … s-vehicles

following a public consultation, to increase the national speed limit for heavy goods vehicles of more than 7.5 tonnes on single carriageways from 40 mph to 50 mph.

This change will be implemented via a change in the law to be put to Parliament during the next few months, with implementation scheduled for early 2015

Personally, as I’ve said before, I think it’s a bad idea.
You only have to look on here and see how many ‘professional drivers’ whinge about being stuck behind a Micra doing 49.5mph in a 50 zone to realise allowing them to 50mph LIMIT means that some of the numties will be crashing off the road because it wasn’t safe to do 50mph…

Irrelevant. Idiots will do what idiots do, it doesn’t matter what the limit is as they don’t seem to give a crap either way.
