Reading a few threads on here give the impression that stobbies planners are putting drivers under to much pressure.

But in the end it’s down to the driver to say no, can’t be done, I’m tired, or my personal favourite " I know where you live’.

Course we have all gone the extra mile to get the job done (no medals awarded though), but there comes a time in every drivers life when they can no longer take it up the arse, even if the sweetener of a reach round is offered.

Trampers no doubt have less pressure on them as there’s no panic to get home, there’s always tomorrow etc.

If in doubt look at your digi card it’s your name on it and your job to stay legal. Easier said than done especially when green and wanting to impress or wanting to get home.

Back in the day when tacos where Frisbee’s I’m sure I’m not alone in having done some spectacular shifts, but different times, now arse covering is essential. It’s our job to know the regs and comply.

Yep.

( ^^himself is right you know…)

the depot i work at has had the letter up telling us that the card must be in at all times and manual entries must be made to account for all shift time, that said, ive never been pressured to run over hours and have on several occasions been pulled out to make sure i get back…ive been out on a few occasions to rescue drivers that have timed out.
all infingments have to be signed off and if you get too many in too short a time you are pulled in the office and they ask why?do you not understand the rules?do you need retraining?

That’s exactly as it should be

The end result of getting work by cheapest not best service.

Company must be well in not to be in serious trouble for allowing (encouraging, aiding and abetting?) such practices, who you know not what you know.

Stobart being bent as a £2 note is nothing new.

You only have to look at what happened with the carlisle airport fraud investigation, and then the investigating officer flying around in stobart helicopters to realise that.

“The fish rots from the head down” springs to mind.

you’ve been in the game a while, i’m sure you’ll answer this easy for me.
If the law allows…
2x15
3x13
=69 hours per week. (we’ll forget weekends for now)

What sort of employer in the hire and reward sector would factor on say 55 hours work in the same time frame and expect to compete given the same fixed costs ?

i can tell you’re losing it a bit now old timer, :grimacing: but 3 X 15 and 2 X 13 = 71 with no weekends. stobrats contracts, were on 55 hours then were reduced to 50 hours a week roughly 2010! Penny pinching back then! So 10 hours days iirc! Still give us 71/ 84 hours and whinged you weren’t doing enough overtime. :grimacing:

You’re only bang on right !!! :grimacing:

Having endured a couple of episodes of t&t I noticed that the spotty teenage “planner” has the vehicles on tracker so surely he should realise that the vehicle is being driven without a card inserted. My company only has 8 trucks but our system notifies the T m if a vehicle is moved without a card even in the yard

The current/new contracts at Stobart’s are for 45 hours now.

stobrats isotraks weren’t rigged up for that :grimacing:

Are you sure about that

Those trackers are hopeless at Stobarts. One planner rang my Isotrak and asked me to nip upstairs to see him. I explained that it would be difficult as I was 30 miles away in Stoke.
