12v portable saucepan

Just seen, and got myself a small metal 12v saucepan. Looks pretty sturdy and has a big thick power cable on it.

Same as this, but in England not the USA amazon.com/12V-Sauce-Pan-Pop … B000668S9I

Thing is, on my 12v 5amp socket it’s not quite bringing stuff to the boil, although it is still making it very hot.

My 24v socket is 15amp, but I’m a bit cautious about plugging it in there in case it’ll fry it.

Will it be ok? Or do I need to buy some kind of adapter for it. Or will I have to do with nearly boiled water

Do not plug it into the 24 volt socket.I lost my DVD player that way.Remember you are drawing a lot of current from your batterries with this device.

It says that it HEATS in the description, not boils!

Well it passed the soup test.

Took about 35 minutes, with the engine running so probably not something to use at 3am if you’re parked near someone else.

But it heated up a full pan of soup to steaming, but not bubbling. Hot enough to know it’s cooked through though. Made of metal so should last a while, gets bloody hot round the sides though!

A nice little investment I think, saves relying on “murder king” and “Costa arm & leg” on the services

Would recommend if anyone just needs something there as a backup to heat up food with. As I said before, it’s got a long, really thick cable on it which didn’t get warm. And being metal it’s easy enough to keep clean, just don’t submerse it!

Chief…I got a portable gas stove, proper saucepan. Takes about 2-3 minutes for piping hot anything! Boil pasta in minutes. Sod that plugging in nonsense.

^^^ he knows what hes talking about.

Unfortunately it’s company policy that we can’t carry gas stoves so I’m stuck on electric

Try an electric cooker, great for ready meals. A saucepan strikes me as a lot of cleaning. Have to agree about gas stoves being great but I to work for a company that doesnt allow gas appliances in the cab.

This time of year invest in a cheap throwaway BBQ, you never no when you may get a group together and whip it out with some beers. That said if my company frowns on gas stoves they are gonna go mental when I start barbecuing steaks on me bunk.

Probably over the thought that they are paying you enough to afford steak! :open_mouth:

Clean the saucepan with anti bacterial wipes. My pan cost a fiver from Tesco. It’s bleedin’ indestructible lads!!!
