I watched a motorbike copper behind another motorbike yesterday, he must have been doing well over 100mph. The copper put his blues on and (as they are disappearing into the distance) it looked like the biker didn’t see him even though he was behind him. When he did he pulled across to the inside land and drastically reduced his speed. The copper passed him shaking his hand and pointing his finger as if to say slow down and then sped up again. If that had have been me in a car then with my luck I’d have been jailed haha

A summons will arrive some time in the next few months.
They would need to report him for summons at the roadside for that and he’d need to be cautioned.
My money’s on they didn’t have any evidential equipment on board (VASCAR, video etc) and worked out his speed by pacing him in their car.
I alwas thought getting stopped for doing over a ton got you an automatic ban.

I think that’s usually the case mate, I didn’t think they needed video evidence to give you a ticket for speeding, I think it’s just at officers discretion to a retailer level, but usually over 100 is a ban an that’s that, lucky fella looks like he’s got off somehow, maybe they where ending there shift in a good mood
i got clocked at a 101mph, it was 2.30am in the morning, he pulled me over,gave me a lecture on the dangers of speeding and said because his video wasnt working he wasnt reporting me and to consider myself well and truly bollocked, so they do have some discretion
The court reports in our local paper covers the ones on the M74 and anything over 100 is automatic ban. Eddie.
Defo has to be cautioned for anything to stand up in court
and they have to inform him of the equipment they used to determine the speed
we used blah blah and your speed was blah blah
and I light of the speed being over blah blah you are being reported for consideration etc
we are gonna report you for excessive speed blah blah

No rocket science to this one…If he was to be done…they would have given him a bollocking and informed him there and then…
Not all coppers are ■■■■■■■■■■ remember watching one of those traffic programmes years ago…And a copper was following a car doing 90 odd…He just said…the driver was driving sensible…he’ll let him off…
What conditions and what time was he stopped…can make a big difference…Early hours…109mph doesn’t pose much risk with other traffic…Often it’s just you and lorries…Copper knows that…

I thought the police were young lads in a nice car messin about there was a siat leon aswell so I kept slowing down n they wouldn’t over take me then the siat went in front of me the n police audi a6 come right up behind me I put ma foot down hit 80mph then they were right on me I slowed down again I thought It was 2 cars messin wit me at this point then I just booted it I’ve got an auto is200 doesn’t take to much to top a hundred. Anyway couple of miles up they finally come past me and showed the blues!! I jus pulled over jumped straight out the car he was like do ya know why we’ve pulled ya n I tolled em I thought it was two tw@ts tryings to box me in lol. I never do over a tonne normally n I mean EVER I always knew about the getting banned if you go over a tonne so you can imagine how much my arse was twitching. They literally checked ma tyres asked for my name n spoke to me for ten mins asked who I worked for n told em I’m a hgv driver they said u shud know better I said yea I know. They said r u nervous I said yea mate its my livelihood! Talkekd to me about unmarked cars in derbyshire and of they went

I hate driving wagons sometimes but the thought of being banned and going back to the meat factory makes me cringe I couldn’t imagine clearin 160 quid a week again lol even though I’m not on much more drivin!

A friend of mine was pulled over the other for doing 109mph they didn’t give him a ticket, they breathalysed him and check his tyres. Can he expect a ban letter through or would they have told him at the side of the road? They only asked for his name and gave him a lecture on blowouts and driving erratically. He thought the unmarked car that pulled him was a boy racer messing about as he tried to slow down n the car didn’t over take him and he sped up n the unmarked police car kept up. Cheers for any replies want to put him at ease I’m sure if he was going to be banned they’d of done it roadside.
This “friend,” did they mention whether the 109 was measured on the police speedo or the “friends” speedo, there can be a huge discrepancy at that speed 
I got done on the M6 several years ago in a company car, i was clocked at just over a ton 100mph (as fast as a corsa 17d will go) But probably because i didn’t try and give excuses , the time of the day(night time) and traffic & road conditions, and by plods own words although driving over the speed limit,i drove safely he used his discretion and did me for under 100mph, so i didn’t loose my licence as apparently over 100mph you can loose your licence but for anything under it’s points and fine unless the 6 points or so will take you over the 12points max in any 3 yrs
When I was about 18 I got pulled by the police and given a producer. I could only produce my licence as I had no insurance and no MOT (was out of tax too). I can remember being stood at the desk in the police station with my mum, the officer behind the desk was a tall old bloke with a goatee beard, a stern looking fellow. I shamefully admitted that I had a producer but nothing to produce (all the time being scowled and tutted at by my mum). He looked at my licence, jotted a few things down and said I would hear something through the post.
I never did
I wish I’d of known though as 12 months down the line I got stopped again for driving with no insurance/MOT etc (figured I may aswell keep driving while I was awaiting summons), only this time after failing to produce my documents I DID get a summons. 6 points for no insurance coupled with the 6 points from 2 previous speeding offences meant I didn’t drive for about 4 years (didn’t even contemplate insurance costs).
Now though its all clean and has been for some years
If they got it on camara ( if the camara is working ) than thell will ban him, the car details is on film they stopped him confirmed the drivers name that’s all they need …

I got done in a similar way just after passing my test, on the Parkway going into Sheffield. I was in the outside lane of two in the 50mph section near the city, and a plain white Sierra Cosworth came racing up behind me. I couldn’t pull in cos I was overtaking, so put my foot down a bit (was doing 50 at the time) and got up to 70 before I could pull in. As soon as I pulled in, the Sierra pulled in behind and lit me up. I got 3 points/£30, and was told that if I’d been 2mph more I would’ve been in court cos I was clocked at 68mph and anything over 20mph above the limit would be a summons.
If you’ve not had a ticket or been told you’re being reported for the offence, then you’ve got away with it
All motorway vehicles have calibrated video recording (not that is matters when vehicle is 39 mph over limit) equipment in the vehicles,
If he was pulled by a genuine unmarked car! remember there are people who like to pretend who really questions blue flashing lights.
If they were going to nick him they would of cautioned him and dealt with it by the way of a fixed penalty or by way of notice of intending prosecution … however in this instant it seems he was given a verbal warning … did the copper advise him he did a PNC on him remember he would of prob had ANPR in his motor so knew who the owner was prior to pulling and video evidence would be used in court as evidence but they would of shown you if they were going to nick you/your mate … seems he got off with it but 30 over the limit is asking for trouble … but the my mate got this or my mate that you know the rest
I was pulled over on A46 doing 103,two years ago in september,asked to drive to safe parking place just off d/c,got into his car,was asked my name,then he told me i was doing 102.9,then was told i was being reported for that speed,and thus cautioned;ie anything you say will be taken down…etc(this constitutes the NIP),was not breathalised,didnt want to see licence as he’d already done a PNC on computer whilst following me.BIB was alone,no vascar used,was clocked with a 20/20 gun,which was sat on top of the dash showing speed.Hoped for the best as my father had died the previous day,all to no avail.I recieved a summons in the December!for SP30,Went to Court in Jan,was shown file with Calibration cert in and BIBS,statement.solicitor pleaded my case,HGV,family etc,400 Fine and was banned for 35 days(judge reduced it from reccomended 56 as had a clean licence for over 30yrs)no points.considered my self lucky as brief said,usually his cliens have also be done for CD/DD as well.Judge said i would not of got the reduction if caught on a motorway.Kept my job as was on agency and no points or CD.Another driver i know has just been sacked from a big Logistics firm after 15yrs after getting banned for a month,(69 =- in a 50)Gross Misconduct FFS,Unable to carry out his duties as per employees contract!Lost appeal.
If your “friend” did’nt get cautioned then he can’t get charged,as if stopped they either have to caution/report you or give you a ticket.If he had’nt been stopped they have to post one to you within 14 days.unless hire/lease vehicle.
