Posting this as many folks dont have a handle on how to take advantage of the cpc rules. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE WHO PASSED A CAR TEST AFTER 1996 ie no acquired (grandfather) rights.
You will have to do Modules 2 and 4. This is case studies and practical demonstration test and will give you (once you’ve passed the driving test) 5 years driver cpc. Great. But if you then do your periodic training (35 hours - no test/exam) straight away, this will give you another 5 years - meaning that you get 10 years of driver cpc. For those moving on to CE, they should complete Mods 2 and 4 and pass their C then do CE and get some of the CE training credited towards the 35 hours (assuming the trainer has the course approved - check this). This will save time in the classroom later.
In our particular case, as we dont charge for driver cpc when a full driving course is booked, we can turn out many newbies bearing a 10 year card.
Imagine how much more employable you are when you’ve got this to produce at a job interview. Especially when some of the older drivers are flatly refusing to complete their cpc. This has to produce at least some jobs in September.
Hope this makes sense and doesn’t confuse.
