read this story am and it got me well pi**ed off ….there was also a young person on board (under 16) so e was marched off to social services….now what they do with him will be to provide accommodation and support.now this aint cheap prob in the region of 500-1000 per week whist they sort his status out .thats not all …he’ll be allocated a social worker a solicitor and their will be costly meetings to discuss him!!! i reckon if this young person stays a year he will cost in the region of 100k…police time /paperwork ,transport /court costs ect……now u try to get ur seriously ill mum in a nursing home then u go to the back of the que boyo!!!..and if labour were in power the lorry driver would have been given a criminal record and forced to wear high vis jacket the rest of his life

It’s not that easy. Vietnam has to agree to take them and that means proving that that is where they came from. If, as usual, they have ditched all ID, that becomes very difficult. What else can we do with them?
At least this government is making the right noises - hopefully they will get the message and try their luck elsewhere. This is the same problem that all economically successful countries have - the USA gets them from Mexico and countries further South; Germany gets them from the Eastern block countries; Italy from Africa (but Italy is broke, so they move on). You really can’t blame them for wanting to better themselves.

^This.As I said the odds are they will all be able to stay.Being that realistically there should be no need for what are unarguably illegal ( seemingly Vietnamese ) immigrants to be given immigration status either in the form of social services or a ‘Visa’ and the major UK airport was just up the road.Where they could all have been summarily deported back to Vietnam with immediate effect. 
Although to be fair the truck driver would have also got all the grief from the Cons too ‘if’ it had been a Brit wagon and driver.But as usual British jobs for foreign workers one way or another also fits the Con script so he’s in the clear.

Particulars will be taken at dover,they will then be issued with a travel warrant and told to report to immigration centre in Croydon. They will then go missing and be registered as absconders.Thats what used to happen in the late 90s.

‘If’ there was no way of knowing where they come from or who they are then (1) they obviously wouldn’t be described as ‘Vietnamese’ and (2) how do we know they aren’t criminals.In all cases there should be no need for the presumption of refugee status being that they’ve obviously been through numerous safe countries to get here.While your own comments show that its all about economic migration/immigration not asylum.In which case they have a choice of deportation to where they originate from or the last safe country they were in.It’s then the responsibility of that country to send them on down the line to eventually be sent home.Which in this case is Vietnam and if Vietnam doesn’t want them tough they are stateless.
The fact is there is too much hypocritical bleeding heart socialist bs within the EU combined with the cheap labour agenda.Which is attracting these economic migrants in ever greater amounts and allowing them to cherry pick which countries they want to go to on arrival.

But the Cons are saying that they are ‘supposedly’ applying ‘different’ criterea in that regard.IE as usual saying one thing while doing another because the fact is Blair was just applying the combination of bleeding heart socialism and the cheap labour agenda while the Cons are just applying the latter.
As opposed to we think they are Vietnamese which should be good enough for immediate deportation back to Vietnam then let Vietnam sort out which version of South East Asian they actually are.Then word gets round that we are no longer a soft touch then they give up coming.

Obviously France doesn’t seem to be on their list for ‘some’ reason.
While it seems to be a lot of aggravation ‘unless’ they were reasonably sure that ‘if’ they can get in here they can stay.
