10 hr driving turns to 11hrs

im sure i read on here a while ago where driving time had been extended from 10 hrs max to 11 hrs,or a driver had been told it had been, cant rember the outcome

When I see posts like this I always wonder how often do you actually get stopped by VOSA? I’d say for most of you, driving British registered trucks that is, it’s pretty much never. I was in checkpoint at Holyhead last week, the one where they pull in all trucks, and they waved every UK reg through and out again. Therefore why worry? Don’t stress people, their not as bad and scary as everybody seems to think. If you got stopped and the only bad thing on your card is this then don’t think they’ll be too bothered.

I have been saying the same for years Luke. The last time I was stopped was about 2005 and I knew I was going to get a pull. I was driving a Renault Premium and had just returned from holiday, the French relief driver had cleaned my cab out including the o licence. It took about 5 minutes with the VOSA laptop to give me a clean sheet and he even ordered me a new identity disc. He didn’t even check my previous cards.

was a hour before but there was loads of places to park up as was from junction 6 southbound on m1 then accross to west london i went

if the fixed penalties are for current offences then no prob as it would be in the past now

Not many places to park if you went via M25, and if London Lorry Ban was in operation, that would also cause additional mileage due to so many roads being inaccessible.

I left Hounslow and had to drive to Denham to find a lay-by with space, a distance of 13 miles. Luckily it was just on 4h22m when I got there.

Mostly all uk reg trucks i drive and never been pulled in a few weeks ago was just after taking over a irish reg ten minutes later pulled in by vosa :unamused:

but had no probs card and truck were clean

Exactly, in my extensive experience with VOSA (!) I’ve found that you get back the attitude you give to them. I’m always pleasant and I’ve always been treated ok, but I know of and have seen drivers who are ■■■■■ towards them and they get no end of grief. I’d say these are the people who create these scare stories.

I don’t even bother stopping in that one. There is usually no VOSA or police officer directing you in, only a yellow information sign asking you to enter check point which means nothing legally and as there are no ‘No Truck’ signs on the main carriageway there is nothing to prevent you just sailing past on the A55.

Last time I can remember being pulled by them was about 3 years ago in a multi agency control in Scratchwood, sorry London Gateway, services.

It’s a myth created by people not reading what it says properly. Anything about the digi card says it will hold a minimum of 28 days and as with all minimums the maximum is usually a lot more.

i was surprised
