10 hour drive

Evening all

Yesterday my day started from Markham Moor truck stop on the A1, tipped Cambuslang in Glasgow and ended up in Blyth services back on the A1 after a near 10 hour drive, used the A66 both ways. Was quite surprised to see I’d done 808 kms or just over 500 miles in old money, I know this might not be anything special to some but when I thought about it I’d averaged over 50 mph for the day. Got me wondering, what’s the most anyone’s done in a single shift? I know in the old days 500 miles is nothing but with the amount of accidents and roadworks these days I thought that was quite a lot all things considered?

Approx 1,350 miles- Wolverhampton to Javea Spain, plenty of stops on route though but took 28 hours ish. One hit…
Coming past Valencia I was hitting the wall a bit but struggled on and just about made it.

Oh and 500 miles this day and age is very impressive.

I can do our depot in Queenslie, Glasgow (from Crewe) in under 9 hours (just) 764kms.

Average 53mph.

I hate going into a 10 on a Monday, on the rare occasions I’ve had to, it’s never been more than by about 5 minutes. Winds me up, as that’s an hour I might need later in the week.

Wiltshire to Italy with no rest.To pick up a driver who had broken down and would have been stuck there over Christmas.
When i got him he was quite happy to stay there. The Scania garage had a bedroom and kitchen and he was making plans to stay there.
We then double manned it back to beat the truck ban.So no sleep for me all the way back.
By luck, the Police never stopped me.
Another time was Lisbon to the UK in one shift.Just kept going with hour cat naps and caffeine.

850kms+ few times on card.

Arr, you can actually get on with if it up scotch.

Corby to Newcastle back to bury st Edmunds 800k

Done plenty of 10hr drives but never get anywhere near those amounts of k’s about 680-700 ish I should imagine is my highest but we’re on multi drop, usually run out of spread before drive.
