10 hour drive - starts Sun and into Mon - which week?

If I do a 10 hour drive and my shift starts at 9pm on a Sunday night - am I right that I would still have 2 10 hour drives left for the following week ?

No as you have extended you driving in the early hours of monday morning so it counts for that week.

no because you can only do 3 reduced breaks and 2 ten hour drives between 2 weekly rest periods, i think ROG or TACHO will put us right though if i have it wrong

The extended drive day counts for the week in which the 9 hour drive was extended, if you start at 21:00 Sunday you will not go over the 9 hour driving time until Monday so you will only have one extended drive day left for the week.

  • You can have three reduced daily rest periods between two weekly rest periods.
  • You can have two extended drive days in a calendar week.

So you could have 6 reduced rests in 7 days then? … and do 4 consecutive day 10 hour drives?

Could someone help me with this one? if I start on Monday 1600 hrs and finish 0500 hrs Tuesday and have done 4.5 hrs driving after midnight into the Tuesday can I only do 5.5 hrs driving on my Wednesday shift before midnight as any more would take me over 10 hrs ?

Assuming that you’re on EU regulations a new daily driving period starts when you’ve completed a daily rest period period, so between two daily rest periods you can drive for 9/10 hours.

In your situation you can drive for 9/10 hours on the Monday night shift, 9/10 hours on the Tuesday night shift, 9/10 hours on the Wednesday night shift ec’t, obviously you can only drive for 10 hours in a shift when you’ve got an extended driving day available.

However as a night worker unless, you’ve opted out of the night time working limits you are restricted to 10 hours working time in a 24 hour period.

So if you started to extend in the Sunday, i.e started to go into a 10 hour drive at 23.50 - and ended driving at 0030 hours - which week then ?

The 10 hour driving day would count for the week the Sunday was in, or week one may be a better way of putting it.
