10/12/12 M6 JNC 16 Long delays

So someone dies and all you lot seem to be worried about is getting the road open so you can get to a delivery. Get your priorities in order, at least you will probably get there and your family will have a nice Christmas.

I came past it myself at around 3:30pm, and phoned it into Sally Traffic about them turning the vehicles around back to J17.

It looked bloody horrific, and I spent the afternoon thinking how it might have happened, and thanked God it wasn’t me.

RIP to the deceased.

Ken.

You lot who say they should hurry up and get the road open should be ashamed of yourselfs!

Dunno why they should be ashamed of them selves, when London Underground can have a line reopened within an hour after a train has just wiped some one out!!
Where’s the difference?

shut for way to long.
you have to remeber that there are people trying to get on with their lives,i.e. catching flights, going to funerals, visiting sick family and friends and this accident is not important to them even if people have died or been injured.
life goes on and thats a fact of life !

Was stuck in this for 7 hours! Just grateful I am home now! Rip
To the deceased

Not a view you see very often:

Rearward relief, sending traffic back to the previous junction. Done in smallish groups, very time consuming and can only be done once it’s certain that no vehicles what-so-ever will be making towards the accident scene.
They did consider opening the central barrier and turning traffic onto the other c/way, but that means closing 2 lanes of the other c/way so that you guys in the big trucks can turn 180º to join the other c/way, also it’s very labour intensive to do that.

The difference is that people in London are important, do important jobs. London is the lifeblood of the country… :unamused: The rolling eyes are at my own statement

Because on the tube it’s clear what has happened and all you need is a set of window wipers and a body bag.

On the road when someone dies someone has to be held accountable and It probably takes time gathering evidence and putting together the pieces in what’s happened.

I also think its a thing with sociaty nowadays that everyone feels that there the only one tryin to get somewhere and every one else dosnt matter
Things go wrong and sometimes we get delayed
Being stuck in a jam not getting your dog biscuits or cans of pop to an rdc is not really a major problem compared to someone losin there life

Whilst speaking to a Police Collision Investigator at the scene of a fatal, he told me that he has one chance to gather evidence and once the road is reopened, any evidence left is lost. Unlike a murder in a house, the scene can be cordoned off and protected but a motorway can’t. He said that it is HIM that stands before the coroner so HE will make sure his report is 100% accurate. If not just for his professionalism but for the family of the deceased and if we were all honest, if we lost a loved one because a driver was driving dangerously, we would want justice. So yes delays do cost money and frustration but the feelings of a family who have just been told their loved one is deceased are worth more than that, aren’t they??

Kind of puts it into perspective don’t it?

+1

I went past about 2 pm after going round the 500, there was actually 3 lorries involved, if you look at the 3 rd photo, the green lorry on the hard shoulder had been run in to the back of by the 4x4 sat just back from it.

There wassup a green rigid and a car further up. I have dash board camera footage but I can’t upload it till I’m home due to the size of the file

Looks like the white van has hit the corner of sompthing head on as there is a deeper hole in the middle so to speak, possibly his the back corner of the red truck that is damaged.
But in one of the pictures it almost looks like there is a white rope/strap connecting the front of the van to the W+D not sure if this is just a trick of the picture or wether sompthing has got caught between the two

Could be police “incident” tape,or something?

I think the van has hit the rear of the drawbar. Those trucks have mounty brackets on, so they will be fairly solid.

Looks like its then been hit side on by sompthing, probably a truck be the occupents of the van had a very rough ride for a few seconds :open_mouth:
