1 weeks notice

Silver_Surfer:
Well, I would tell them briefly why you’re leaving as else how will they ever hope to change & retain drivers?

Just say, “That bloke’s a ■■■■ which is why i’m leaving.”

Simple & effective.

Unfortunately it will have no impact , the driver before me wrote a 2 page letter about his attitude & how he was , that letter was handed to him to read out aloud & mock the driver , the others that have left have all said they can’t work with him but he’s still there … baffles us all, its not as if he’s any good at the job he’s suppose to be doing either…

Agree with Kemaro. I told my last place what was wrong; 60 hour weeks but paid for 55, carrying up and downstairs, after a days work you were THEN meant to go to local trck garage to get inspections and defects sorted, being treated like dirt by customers. …
Last week a mate left and told them the same things and was told “well they wont change anything…”

So its the last working day of my notice , do far I have heard nothing from the office , no call to talk, there was no Monday meeting, nothing , also I’ve only been paid my usual flat week into my bank account , no week in hand or holidays owed, asked current manager to ring hr & find out what’s what …no p45 either …

Be surprised if you get your P45 before you’ve effectively finished - I would be expecting it in the post in a week or so.

Same for the payment; chances are you’ll be given a payment after you’ve actually left, as opposed to working your notice. Wouldn’t hurt to clarify with HR though.

I agree with this. Most wages are done around Tuesday or Wednesday, so they don’t know if you’re going to work the week or not.

Next weeks wage will be your final wage with all holiday pay and your p45 I should imagine.

You won’t be. The pay for this week gets paid next week the same as last weeks pay was paid this week - that is how a week in hand works. It doesn’t just change because you’re leaving so at least you know you’ve got a weeks wage next week.

Your holiday pay should be included with next week’s pay although some companies pay it separately. You will not get your P45 until they’ve paid all outstanding pay and holiday pay as they can’t issue one correctly until you have and they’ve entered the amount of income and tax you’ve been paid on it.

i have left every job on good terms bar stobarts and that was only due to them messing me around.

Yep, will all be paid up next week , still not a single word from the bosses

Don’t hold your breath!

Don’t know how you’ve managed to work with those planks for so long…

It was more out of necessity & needing to pay bills that I stayed so long , but by the time I finished today there was nothing from the top so I guess that door is closed, nice after nearly 4 years & never a day off, the lads in the yard got me a slab of beer, will just focus on new job Monday & wedding in two weeks , its all or nothing …:

It wasn’t just planks - it was joists, trusses, cement - all sorts
Good luck with the new job, mate. And congrats on the wedding too

Thank Christ you’ve left the place (good luck) - only hope now is you find somewhere that can put up with you :unamused:

Think I will have to become my own boss for that to happen…

New job starts today , up early & off for some induction training …

AND…

Yeah, come on, we’re waiting.

Bale Bandit:
I would hand it in as soon as I got to work. If you hand it in at the end of the shift then it counts form the next day

Makes no difference - the notice period normally starts the next day regardless of when you hand in your letter (or give verbal notice). Unless of course your employment contract states otherwise.

Handed mine in yesterday morning. I was back home last night, all finished with a handshake. Of course…I was devastated.

Well induction training was very very mind numbingly boring , I know why I don’t do office work , sat at a computer is not for me, however I got through it & went out on the run with one of the other drivers , all went well, so far so good …
