We’ve got a 64 plate Actros in City West motors waiting for a part for a sensor fault with the gearbox ( I think ) , so how can a part take a month to arrive ? Is it coming from the moon ? Is someone walking from Germany with it at a snail’s pace ?
I have nothing to do with Merc, the part is probably backorder from the manufacturer of the said item…And before you say ,yes they are still building the trucks and using the sensor you need,They just don’t have any in stock for repair…
Or the sensors are breaking faster than they are making them
That’s ruthless German efficiency for you.
“For you Tommy ze trucking is over”
Well for a month anyway.

We had another one in for a month waiting for a part going back at the beginning of the year, proving a bit troublesome these Actros’s at times.
Ha a month is that all! I’ve had a Merc off the road since Oct! All for a fuel pump part, finally tracked down a used pump so hopefully it might be sorted.

But these are new motors which are still in production surely a couple of days to get a part.
My Dad is a agricultural engineer and I remember about 10 years ago he needed a part for a combine one harvest. There wasn’t a dealership in the country who had one. So the manufacturer put a member of staff from the factory in France on the Eurotunnel in a little van (It was a large part) and I drove down to Dover, met the bloke, collected the part and he got on the next train home.
Now thats service.
As merc 0477 said they may be failing faster than anticipated, so they can’t keep up with demand…Have you asked merc uk for an answer
You’d think the could borrow the part off another Actros they have sitting in the forecourt just to get yours back on the road.
You would think ,but I think the german marques are a bit of ourway or the highway allegedly
I find our local Mercedes dealers lack of inventory frustrating! Basic things have to come from Germany, why?! They should have a stockpile here, so the part can arrive in a couple of days!
double post see full explanation below
Id say what happened is the Eastern European driver that has it on his lorry has been parked up by vosa for the last 3 weeks due to a broken brake disc but the problem is his boss refuses to pay for a mechanic to come out and fix it and vosa won’t let him go until it’s been fixed. This is a more plausible explanation than it sounds and this sort of thing is a regular occurrence.

It’s some kind of spring which is built into the gearbox gear selector and it’s not man enough for the job and it’s been happening a lot apparently, they never had any more built for spares as there was no call for them until now.
Its standard fair for a foreign business operating in the UK ,they all see that the government take the ■■■■ out of the general population so think oh. I’ll have a smidgeon of that. That’s why a lot of the utility companies in this country are foreign owned as they are not allowed to operate as they do in the UK back home.

We brought a new Nissan juke in December ,from leaving the dealership too getting to work ,about 15 miles the j had fallen off so I owned a uke, they were informed and said they would ring me when they got a new badge in zzzzzzzzzzz I eventually got fed up looking at it so took the whole badge off ,after my Mrs throwing a hizzy fit we got a new badge fitted last month ,March, the key also fell apart with the blade staying in the ignition barrel and the fob bit in my hand ,only realised this in the morning when I pushed button on key fob and no blade came out ,looked everywhere and found it still in ignition barrel ,about a month too replace ,we’ve had various nissans ,primers gt,s ,etc and just never went wrong ,this Nissan doesn’t feel me with the same confidence the old nissans did ,maybe it’s the Renault tie up ,I just don’t think cars are built like they were ,doubt will keep it long as I don’t like it ,but it will be gone before guarantee runs out whatever
We’ve currently got a 64 plate Actros off the road with a clutch problem. It has 50k km on the clock, Merc have said that they can’t get a part until July! Wtf?
