I worked for Alan Butcher of Invicta Transport based in Hart Street Maidstone in 77/78 pulling flat trailers for Wim Vos. Almost all of the work was for destinations in the Benelux countries. I drove GKC 389N an F89 Volvo which was painted up in Vos colours and am sure the lorry was employed, before my time, on Middle East work. It seems logical that Vos Multitrans were the company Alan subbed for. I did wonder if the lorry was an old Vos unit but seeing that Vos had 88’s I now doubt it.
Whilst I was there we worked out of Vos’s Chester office and I know there were a few other British subbies there at that time who also had their lorries painted in Vos colours but they were on tanker work.
In 78 Alan decided to go to work for Wilgo Freight but left the unit in Vos’s colours.
