Dave Thorburn (RIP) -one of life’s characters-pictured on top of a tank at Southampton’s Maritime Freightliner Terminal.
D529DOW-a 1986 FL10- was one of 6 LTS Freight Ltd vehicles in Voss livery. All were fitted with the Voss hot water circulation system which was capable of maintaining a minimum tank temperature
Pulling Voss tanks was like Marmite, you either loved it or didn’t ! mainly because of the uncertainty.“Ring when you’ve lifted the tank off at Dover/Felixstowe/Immingham”.Being week ended at the last minute was part of the job but the drivers always took pride in the Voss work, whether tipping Orange juice or having a solidified load refused at Fawley Paramins plant & having to steam it for 24 hours.
There was always empathy & great respect between the drivers & Voss staff
What a great thread! Loved my time on tanks, based in Stockholm i picked the tanks up at the railwayterminal or the boats from Finland. Deliverd up for 5km-300km from Stockholm but from time to time we whent futher away like norway or finland. Great times.
But nerver vos tanks.

Have just posted one of your photos on the Promotor page showing a group of drivers. I hope thats ok with you. I am sure one of the drivers is Graham Bertram, an english driver who may have worked for Voss/Multitrans as an owner driver in the 70’s.
Do you have any information about the men in that photo. Graham, if its him, is in the red shirt and wearing a cap and waving to the camera.
