UK licences abroad and another Brexit Issue?

Wasn’t an International Drivers Permit required years ago though Harry?

This is what they say will be the answer if no deal agreed.

Everyone will have to go through the slow process and cost of getting an IDP , apparently £5.50

It’s not saying you can’t drive ever abroad , just that you will need an extra hoop to jump through.

To me it’s another reason it’s all ■■■■ up when Brexit involved.

No more taking for granted you can pop off a ferry and go on your way if this latest scare is to be believed

I don’t remember getting an IDP’s being a slow process, or even much of an inconvienience. Also My understanding of why we used to have them for certain countries was because the UK didn’t have an ID photo on the licence and the IDP covered this requirement, we now have photo licences and our driving licences categories are the same as the rest of the EU. So it would seem a UK licence would be far more compatable in the EU than many other countries whose citizens can drive in the EU without an IDP.

There are no doubt many things that need to be sorted out during our exit from the EU, but I would pay little attention to scare stories from rags who specialise in such things.

Its all going to be sorted before we leave…we will have the same rights as we do now…its the scaremongers out again…the same ones who are saying we will have to pay an extra £5 billion if we dont leave by 2020, as for Bulgaria, i have never had to use an IDP there…even when they were a commie state…the uk licence has always been accepted and i have been stopped there a few times with my car, and a hire car ( i do have a home there ) so i know…no changes throughout the EU…for if they did that…it would be reciprocal…and seeing as theres more trucks come here, than ours going there…there could be a large queue at calais.
