Can I ask where this photo was taken ?
The reason I ask is the Leyland box truck in the photo I new well…Jones Transpot Shrewsbury.

Hello Marktaff,Jones transport were a reg8ular subbie and the photo was taken at British Tissues hanger 2 Llandow.
There was always various firms backloading like Bartrums and Smith of Madiston always had a few flats lined up.
They had a shunter based in Newport David? and i believe he became Carline,s trainer?

The Daf was a batch of 4 and parked in the Bridgend ranks.It was taken on a sunday morning and Eddie is to the right.
He was from Cymmer and lived in North Cornelly,ex N and C bus driver and then he worked for the oid D. David Tondu.
He done the Wrexham changeover on nights for years and last off drove MTC478R 111 scania.

Hello Dai what happened to Dai Page did he move to Bradford something is in the back of my head he did .
You are right Ian he transferred to Bradford depot.
He lived in crossroads near Keighley and returned to South Wales and sadly died about 3 years ago in a Cwmavon care home.
What a character,everyone on my travels seemed to know him and i will try and put his ex 81 photo on tomorrow.

Yes John we were always there on a Friday night short run in on sat. morning I was on the BRS then .
A load of us used to stop on Fridays in the 80,s tdw,Owens and the Welsh boys heading home I was driving a flatbed merc van on delanair work ,I was up there the other day tipping on the estate
1 for Chris 143,Dai pages 81.The only 81 to arrive that year and soon after Dai went onto VLJ 649X 82M sleeper that ended its days on the driving school.The 40 footer looks long without the side guards.
Ron Evans would have drove this 1 also Chris 143.
2 were a lot later sprayed up in the new colours and had the back to front gearbox .
