I havnt read the whole thread so not sure if this has been said already but in my opinion (limited to political expertise as it is), the reason Trump won is on a par with why Brexit happened. The ordinary manin the street is sick to the back teeth with politicians and their lies. They are fed up with the elect leaders not listening to them and instead ignoring their fears or wishes and instead pushing ahead with their own agendas, which are usually about an end game that fills their own coffers. They are fed up with the leaders opening the borders to all and sundry from any dirthole and letting them come here and stick their hand out.
I saw one ■■■■ yesterday with the comment “its democracy at its worst”. anyone with Lord in front of their surname is usually a moron but this one blew my mind. It was totally lost on him that Brexit and now the US election is democracy at its best as the ordinary working man is ignored by the politicians till they want your vote.
When ukip did so well in the by elections a few years ago, Cameron dismissed it as “a protest vote” and ignored it. That showed the contempt with which they treat the citizen of their country
Maybe instead of whinging and moaning they should look at just WHY a man like Donald Trump managed to secure the keys to the white house and instead of blaming the idiotic voters they shouldl ook a little closer to home and start listening.

To be fair it’s not just politicians,there’s a clearly defined difference among the respective electorates.IE Socialist,pro immigration,globalist/federalist v anti immigration protectionist/Nationalist.Unfortunately,other than Trump and Le Pen and to a much lesser extent Farage,the latter having no democratic voice.While the former isn’t prepared to accept any democratic opposition to its agenda.Which explains why Brexit has been hijacked by the remain agenda in the form of May and Hammond etc.Which,contrary to listening and contrary to Trump’s agenda,is not only playing for time to derail Brexit,but is also ploughing on with selling the country out to the global free market economy in the form of the Chinese Communist Party.

Yes the actual vote count doesn’t transfer pro rata into the Presidential electoral system.Just as it didn’t for Lincoln or Obama or any other US president.It is the same as the Brexit vote in the sense that the self appointed Socialist driven establishment agenda lost just like it did in the case of Brexit.Get used to it because hopefully France and maybe even Germany are next.
