Never have had a problem with being undertaken.
As I always do when it comes to undertaking discussions, I’ll use the USA as an example where it makes no difference whatsoever which lane you pass in. 6 lanes of traffic and lane 6 has a big rig in it being passed by all and sundry in lanes 1 to 5. Simultaneously, lane 3 has a dawdler fiddling with their phone and is passed inside and out. No ones bats an eyelid.

I have not commented anywhere about how good/bad freeways are.
I did say that the USA has a worse road accident history than the UK. And the figures say that for the same mileage there will be twice as many deaths in the USA as here. I explicitly said there are many reasons for that.

It seems that the USA has about 60 times the gun ownership (per capita) of the UK and about 200 times the homicide by gun (per capita). Your assumption that dangerous practises would automatically be outlawed hardly stands up.
