So, is this the Maut dead and gone?
Only, maybe, in it’s current form. Listening to the radio in Germany this week they are looking at adopting another system, maybe something like the Austrian sytem which is lower tech and works. The company that administers the Italian motorway tolls are likely to be involved and the Austrian system is already compatable with both the Swiss and Italian systems
Apparently the Maut is dead!
One of my collegues said that yesterdays paper report the system is unworkable! (we knew that).
They paid half the money up front for its installation and are trying to claim it back from the company that supplied the sotware/installation.
They are applying to return to the Vignette system but have to wait for a full year to elapse before rejoining the Vignette system. Shame…
