Heard today of an Irish o/d with the latest scania got stopped in Denmark, they found the tacho with a magnet on €30000.00 fine to get the lorry back .

Irish firms are coming under the spotlight in Denmark quite a few been done over the last year the Danish pass on all details to the RSA so you get scrutinised once you get home too

Good news as these guys generally only destroy rates and margins for everybody but I would have thought 3K was light enough for this out in Europe these days.

I also thought magnets didn’t work on the newer tachos because there was a second movement signal generated in ECU or somewhere and once a disagreement was detected between it and the gearbox sender unit, the tacho head recorded a security event or summat■■?

Or perhaps that’s not here yet?

Went to an RHA conference a while back and the head of the DVSA was saying that they now find on average 3 East EU truck with some sort of electronic gizmo tampering with the digi.

As far as running abroad goes ( same as UK really), our drivers can be in a van or an artic unit, so we have a lot of time unaccounted for on the digi. Our drivers run with sheets, similar to a timesheet set up, listing their activities, it’s never been a problem in France or Spain.

That’s unbelievable if it is that easy to beat the new tamper proof models
