Eddies hit Lichfield bridge Again

Wheel Nut:
There are a lot of bridges marked in imperial and metric that doesn’t agree

That’s usually because the calculation used to arrive at the figure marked on the bridge is different for metric and imperial measurements.

…no…im not going to say it…

I’ll say it for you, 4 meters limit, thing is though Andrew there are so many Richard Heads that drive now, even if all trucks were limited to 4mts, the twunts would be hitting bridges that are lower!! The number of times that I’ve heard that the Blackwall Tunnel has been closed because an idiot DIDN’T READ THE ROAD SIGNS on the approach and it’s not just one sign!!

trouble is Blackwell is signed 4.0m and 13ft.0. so when you go down there at 4.0m it don’t fit, hence why the lhd brigade keep banging the height markers.

There are a lot of bridges marked in imperial and metric that doesn’t agree

Stop trying to justify why they keep clobbering bridge’s.

Blackwall Tunnel height.

As we were introducing a better height limit warning and diversion sign
regime to the tunnel approach roads, we took the opportunity of checking
the internal measurements of the tunnel to ensure the height limit
displayed was correct. This exercise proved that the height limit of 4.0
metres was correct and did not need to change. However, as we were
introducing new signs on the approaches to the tunnel, the new signs had
to be in accordance with the current legislation; thus, the imperial
figure of 13’ 4” had to be amended to 13’ 0” to comply with guidance
contained in Chapters 3 and 4 of the Traffic Signs Manual.

Therefore, early in 2010, we introduced new signs on the A102 and A2
showing 4.0m/13’0” height limit (instead of the 4.0m/13’3”) and at the
same time amended all the existing height limit signs to ensure
consistency.
