LOCKDOWN THREAD [Updated 05/01/2021]

Postby Paul@PSTT » Sat Oct 31, 2020 8:20 pm

Thread title changed to include the current lockdown - possibly until Easter :?:

So Boris has told the nation that additional restrictions apply from Nov 5th - Dec 2nd.

Hi Folks

IMPORTANT UPDATE

In their infinite wisdom, DVSA have decided that face to face cpc and Mod 4 cannot be conducted during lockdown.

Sorry to report that driving tests are suspended from 5th November till at least 2nd December.

All affected bookings will be sorted as soon as we know we're operating tests again.

Pete

Very interested to find out. Personally I can't see them going ahead. Am I right in thinking Wales cancelled tests? The lack of info last time was sickening. Hopefully we get some more clarity quickly.

Wales cancelled tests.

It's important that a forum like this encourages fact rather than rumours. And that's why I'm waiting to hear from DVSA as they call these particular shots.

Take care, Pete

From a trainers point of view I'd still turn up unless you get a call from the training provider. As it stands no one knows what's happening officially.

Fingers crossed for you, Pete.

Tomorrow marks the start of week 2 for us in Wales, no driving tests for a fortnight has caused us a lot of work to rearrange things.

Hopefully DVSA clarify the state of play for England ASAP, unlike the 3.5 day delay that we had for a formal statement following our first ministers 'firebreak' announcement!

Ollie.

As Peter has said, as training providers we genuinely don't know at the time of this reply (unless Peter has had a very recent email) so it's difficult / incorrect of us to speculate and potentially put false information out to people who are ready nervous!

We are still operating Mod 4 tests as we have our own Mod 4 examiners on staff. DVSA will not be conducting Mod 4 tests.

Shoot! Passed my class 2 in Sept 2020, was originally booked for March but the 1st lockdown stopped that. But now my class 1 has been cancelled which was due in Nov 2020!
Are these gov testers soft? Any excuse to have time off work? !! Or have I got them wrong?? Is there any other way or must I sit tight and wait again?
Shame as I was offered temp class 1 work with Royal Mail once I passed.

At least I'm able to get some class 2 work in through Agency work :D

Truck on!

At least you can still run the ADR, the SQA are not as alarmist as the DVSA.

Hmmm... will DVSA still accept DCPC uploads from an ADR course which by default has to be taught face-to-face?

From Dec 2nd it is very likely that many of the areas of England will go directly into the highest tier so that could have an impact on DVLA tests

This is what many politicians are alluding to what will happen

Just to update. The DVSA have back-pedalled on face to face cpc and this is now allowed.

It's understood that the tier system is being revised and the PM explains this tomorrow. But, under the previous short lived tier system, tests still ran.

So I'm quietly optimistic for Dec 3rd.

Any one thinking about training during next year should have a good look at the Christmas Offer thread.

Going back to tier system but each tier will have extra restrictions so it could be that the highest tier may affect LGV tests - we should know on Thurs
