Buses, coaches, & lorries

Leyland600:
Yes Ray Alan Palmer trading as Palmer of Carlisle, (brother to George who operated Blair & Palmer of Carlisle) ran that LUT Daimler on a works contract to RAF 14 MU at Kingmoor Carlisle. Alan passed away in Romania about 8 or 9 weeks ago.
14 MU was a huge RAF stores complex parts of which adjoined the 1960s state of the art computerised Kingmoor Railway marshaling yard which did not work on frosty nights. Ribble Carlisle (Corporation Rd depot) had a contract to run marshalling yard staff from the city to the site on three shifts, regular buses used were Saro bodied Tiger Cubs and Leyland MCW Olympic 274 which could certainly motor, I drove these buses frequently 1963-64.

Hi Gerald, Thank you for your comments about the Alan Palmer Ex L.U.T. Daimler. Because of its colour, I imagine
quite a few people would assume it was a Ribble bus. Cheers, Ray.
