Northwest Trucks

As ever Paul, a great collection of pictures. Regarding the Crown Paints Commer,
Reed Transport at Darwen did a vast amount of Crown Paint work, particularly on their
night trunk changeovers at Newport Pagnell. I seem to remember that in the 1970s,
I was told that The Reed Group and Crown Paints were part of the Daily Mirror Group.
It seems to make sense, with Reeds being a major manufacturer of newsprint reels.

Nice to see one of Oliver Harts 8 wheeler Leylands on Ashton Old Road.

The James Spencer Albion reminded me that they had a small depot at Tram Street
in the Platt Bridge area of Wigan. I don’t know whether the old tram depot was a
former site of Wigan Corporation Tramways, or perhaps Lancashire United Transport.
James Spencers main work from Wigan was multiple shop deliveries of Heinz Canned
Foods from the factory at Kitt Green.

Thanks for the pictures, Regards, Ray.
