Turns out the driver is only 19 and only recently passed his test.I know I was oot the game for a few years but when did they let 19 yr olds in class 1’ns.?
When I got my class 1 at 22 by christ I was Green but off I went and learnt with some very good journeymen to teach me the ropes(pardon the pun)but has the job stooped that low now?
I was a wee bit more growen up at that age than i was as a 19 year old and I was ready for life away with some serious responsibility and I learnt quick, I had to too work for who I did back then. I was put into the deep end shall we say with a well known outfit who had a reputation but they gave me a start and I grabbed it with both hands and made a good life for myself for 5 years.
Surely the establishment should see this and think about age etc?
You can take, pass and drive C+E for a living at 18 now believe it or not!
In September 2009, in line with the implementation of Driver CPC, the minimum age for driving an HGV (category C and C+E) vehicle was reduced from 21 to 18 years.
Back then(93/94) they said the job was [zb]. It’s taking to a whole new level now then. I don’t believe it Victor Meldrow style.
What a mess.
