0Leave it out that’s as stupid as saying that the Slavic nations are always friends and allies because they are united by their common Christian orthodox culture.That worked well in Yugoslavia and bewteen the Poles and the Russians.
Actually, Stalin was very persecuting of Orthodox Christianity, and was very much pushing the Atheist Envelope all the time. Nowadays the Hard Left have nothing in common with Putin’s Russia - because Putin is a defender of the church, wheras our hard left - are ■■■■■■■■■ atheists on the most parts.When what we actually need is a split in the Labour Party between Nationalist v Socialist along the lines of British jobs for British workers and doing what’s in our national interest and let the other countries look after themselves. The last time we saw a union of Nationalist and Socialist - it really was the very worst of both worlds - wasn’t it?

It would be a big ask for one major world nuclear power to have any workable plan to make a hostile takeover of another nuclear power. I don’t believe this sort of thing is possible by simple politics or military force any more. We’ve even got America now making noises to the EU that “There will be trouble if you don’t stop buying cheap Russian energy…” What on earth happened to Capitalism? If America really wanted to knock a competitor out of the marketplace - then undercut Russia’s prices!
In any case, I’m not worried about China or Russia - invasion or WWIII isn’t going to happen because they invade us, although it might happen if we get roped into a daft war against them.
Neither superpower is blowing us up, stabbing us, throwing acid in the faces of their own, and creating an atmosphere of fear that we’re told we cannot even speak against meanwhile.
America? - I worry about American Impunity as much as anyone else does. The fight vs ISIS seems to have been brushed under the carpet and replaced by renewed political aggression towards Russia for whatever daft reason the behind-the-scenes powers seem to think it is a good idea. Frankly, I’m disappointed that Trump seems to have bent over for this lot within months of taking office - as if he’d done the proverbial “Pact with the Devil” to maintain his position. Raqqa still stands. Assad is now under attack… That’s not “Mission Creep” - is the diametrically opposite cause entirely!
