You can help overcome loneliness in the elderly and isolated

Left hand down!:
Most elderly people don’t even have a mobile phone, never mind a computer. I don’t think you’ve thought this through too well. Not only that but twitter is probably the worst platform you could’ve chosen. Limited character length and anything that would be remotely of interest to them would require clicking a URL - something that the majority of non-computer savvy types (ie. elderly in particular) are scared to death of doing.

You would be doing a far more useful job by actually going and visiting them to check they’re alright rather than some half-baked attempt at pretending you care whilst keeping them firmly at arms length on the other end of an internet connection.

[zb] back at you. :unamused: Like it or not it’s mostly true. If you cared that much about them then you’d go round and spend time with them, see if they need anything, perhaps take them out to places, NOT send them photos over twitter of places you’re at, showing them what they’re missing :unamused: . That’s just cruel, it’s like a “here’s what you could’ve had”. Talk about rubbing their faces in it :unamused:

.

I’m afraid I agree with LHD. I would say the vast majority of elderly people don’t even own a computer, or phone advanced enough to access twitter. I’m sure 99% of elderly people haven’t even heard of it either. It’s not condescending to say so. In years to come it will be the case that elderly people will be accessing the internet etc, but not the current generation.

I applaud your enthusiasm but perhaps your efforts could best be employed in a slightly different way.
