Yellow lenses

kr79:
Those beam bender things are a pain in the arse. I drive over to France fairly often to see the outlaws and half the time I swear they didn’t do a thing as with the modern clear plastic lenses there are about two thousand different positions to place them depending on the make of car.
I don’t bother any more.

Dont blame you mate. . . not worth the time and effort driving to France . . just to “see the outlaws”

Used to stick the wrappers from Lucozade bottles on the headlights to turn them into fog lights.

Sounds like a "handy hint " from take a break magazine !!

Or from the Viz magazine top tips page !

I have that on my facebook, hilarious, but not as funny as the serious ones in Take a Break, especially the ones that make toys for their Grandkids, poor little [zb]ers having tight arses like that for Grandparents :open_mouth:

I did have a pair of yellow glasses for shooting clays, they were supposed to make them easier to see, or was it, I was such a crap shot?

Crap shot mate, but prob not as crap as me! lol

They were never needed for non French registered vehicles & as far as I know yellow light was claimed to be better in the fog than white light (which bounced straight back)
I used to run with yellow bulbs in my 290 as it never had a headboard (always hated them myself) and I belived at the time that it may make me look like a local vehicle so avoiding a pull by the gendarme when they used to plot up near the channel ports waiting for us to top the wages up.
In those days it was quite easy to block off the kerb/nearside spread of light as this section was clearly marked into the outer lens & could be blocked by tape.

Lets face it guys (going a little off topic) we broke every rule in the book in those days & you could count on one hand the number of firms going over the water who were doing things correctly

Why do modern day fog lights have clear lenses then? . . my mistake . . . there called driving lights nowadays :sunglasses:

My mate runs a Citroen 2CV business and most of the old cars he ships in from France have yellow headlights.

Oh so true, but now that it is Johnny Foreigner doing it in the UK it would seem that there are plans afoot to having hanging brought back :unamused:
