Everyone moans about h&s stuff but it’s only there to cover companies own backsides be they hauliers, warehouses, rdc’s or whatever as IF an accident happens, if there’s an investigation everything is gone through induction/training records cctv etc etc and whoever is at fault can easily be blamed if they’re not enforcing company or yard rules on visitors.
So the yard “Goon” was probably just doing his job, though by the sounds of it could have had a bit more politeness in the way he conducts himself that’s certainly not hard.
A lot of it is down to insurances that the companies have and is probably just a fact of working life nowadays i was told always cover your arse and that’s probably what most of these yard rdc types are doing however petty or stupid it may appear to some!
I’ve told the boss to charge them Extra on top. Win win really.
