on the original post, i don’t know, as an o/d if i knew there was going to be problems i wouldn’t take the job on but if i had no knowledge of it and arrived with the load to find a picket line i’d be faced with a dlema, i don’t tip the load, i don’t get paid but ive possibly just spent £100 of my hard earned in fuel to get it there, think in that situation all i could do, is have word with the lads on the gate, but not a situation i want to put myself in.

Its time though that this industries abnormal pay system is sorted out once and for all, if that means Nationalisation then so be it.
How can it be seen to be fair for Drivers in one company to be paid say £10 ph and yet at another company doing identical work for identical companies the drivers are paid minimum wage?
Southern Drivers are paid a higher basic and night out payment for overnight stays up North, yet Northern Drivers are Paid less for their more expensive overnight stays down South
not always the case im on £8.50 ph for driving a nice new class 2 scania and get £25 a night out. my mate in reading is on £7.50 for a class 2 and £19.50 a night out. i do 55/60 hours a week so i dont think im doing to bad.plus i have a better house and alot cheaper mortgage 
fred ,meold china ,i was using the term just a bit loosly,but he did ■■■■■ his wage cost over the whole country when it came in,as for having a kip the runs was timed so slack you had to kill time between drops and get payed for the pleasure,when the wtd came they swaped all the runs to fit 4 x 12 or 5 x 10 so you did less hrs anyway,and drivers who was prepared to do all the hrs under the sun ,went from £700pw to 500/560pw but only if you did sat(at time & half),sun on double time x 12hr shifts,so some left to find the greener grass?me included but only cause i moved down south,and no depot down here
also he never worked the poa idea it was just work or rest.
