Would you go back to the good days just once more

Sometimes I was just too tired to do anything than collapse across the wheel. Mind you, that was in the very early days in the UK, long before I went abroad. Always had a sleeper from then on.

On a hot day in the UK, you could get a nice breeze going in an Atki Borderer by aiming for all the road bumps. As you hit each one, a gap would appear between the windscreen and the roof. If you could get up to about 40mph it was very refreshing.

When I first landed in Darwin NT, there was a Scotsman there, an OD, with a Park Royal cabbed Mandator. He had replaced the original mirrors with US-style WestCoast arrangements and fastened to the arms were 2 great big pieces of board to direct the airflow into the cab. Only trouble was it was liable to direct some very big beasties too. :open_mouth: :laughing:
