Recently spoke to an agency as a new pass class 2..spoke to a few all actually seem to be advertising the same work and one i would be pretty happy to get. One ive filled in there registration documents the other have made an appointment sort of a rough guess as to when my tacho and cpc will be back and the other also advertising the ideal job but they came back and said they require 6 months …. Which is a bit odd considering they advertsining new passes. Anyway that agency has then suggested another company thry work with which is £14.50 an hour 6 to 2.30pm monday to friday with alternare weekends sounds absolute ■■■■■ tbh .
I have other options there to chase after but this agency is asking if i would go to an interview pretty much within 24hours . I. Thinking nah ? What you reckon
Imguessing there happy with another driver who got in ahead of me and 6 months is a spoof and are spoofing me.about lower wage for experience at £14.50 5 days and altermate weekends
Im looking to get my foot in the door , starting making headway on saving for my own mortgage.
Granred 6 months hard graft might be beneficial. That is if they even offer me a position
Hard to know where im at was invited to an open day before od even finiahed my class 2 £15.50 4 on 4 off transporting cars no idea whats happening with that
Then potential ideal job depo to sub depo 3 to 4 drops across the border working nights ita a no go employer requires 6 months
First job interview…… deliverying fruit produce 6am to 2.30pm city centre monday to friday alternate weekends £14.50 an hours sounds like a right ■■■■■■■■ reviews are great either
Being new pass sad reality is your struggle to get anything decent as your 1st job.
If you don’t need the money keep looking around
Otherwise take it gain bit of experience. You don’t have to stay there.
On agency your never get best jobs untill you have shown the agency you can arrive on time do a good job and not cause issues.
More showing you have good time keeping and work ethic rather than 6 months experience.
Say they had a client theve had for years gives them decent work..they then send in lot new people you all turn up late for start of shift.arnt interested in the job don’t care
Complain etc. doesn’t make agency look good to the. Client.
But once you’ve proved your punctual and willing to work soon get better work
I collected from a smallish warehouse a couple of weeks ago , according to them they were on £17 ph , seems hardly worth the hassle driving a lorry these days , so No from me
There is a flip side to that. You turn up properly on time every time, no complaints, no refusals, for crap work. The agency and the clients see mug you’ll stay there getting more and more crap.Been there done that got the T shirt.
The 6 months trick is just another carrot and bait and switch scam and mug test.Just like most of the industry’s recruitment process in general.Theres a driver shortage but obviously only for crap work.
What is crap work CF? Suspect if it doesn’t involve a jolly up an empty motorway for a pre loaded trailer swap (preferably with a drawbar outfit) then its crap work?..
I’ve never said that anywhere. But drew the line at warehouse staff walking away because even they didn’t sign up for an all hand balll hub system transhipment operation let alone drivers. Then being expected to replace them. One of my biggest regrets is having not walked away there and then.
Or working for agency, being instructed by a site manager, to park up a scaffolding and shuttering deliveries truck after single handedly dropping by handball its load for an outside shuttering and scaffolding contractor client, to do his site labouring. My other biggest regret is having not locked it up and taken the keys back to the agency and walked away there and then.
My first class 1 as a new pass 3 years ago was £11.75 ph diabolical wage but I wanted experience as it was offered immediately after passing. Stuck it out for 2 months and that was enough to allow me to pass the driving assessment where I am now. I chased the experience knowing the money would follow.
