The old Kamaz has got to be up there with the lads: Russia, the Stans, all the historically Soviet-sympathetic countries and just those that traded with Russia. All over the Urals like a rash! Robert

Just solely as a rigid I would think the Bedford TJ would be a contender, you saw them everywhere.
I drove both the TJ and the Leyland WF on the council and preferred the WF with its much better constant mesh box and 6 cylinder diesel v the synchro and 4 cylinder TJ.

But they are not reliable or anything, they are popular because they couldn’t get anything else and Kamaz was the biggest truck manufacturer in the 80s. Their engines are weak, axles are weak, brakes are bad, offroad capabilities are bad because they have no diff locks etc.
Cheers Oily! Here are some Bedfords I found near Hatta Fort where Dubai borders Oman, back in autumn 1988. Robert
Well bugger me I can’t find them!! I’ll try later.
Hi Robert, Within my so called filing system(alphabetical) and under G I have tagged a few as global, some of which I have posted before on Past and Present, so to give this thread a bump some from Montevideo.
First pic is a Merc.
