Will I get the job and how long does it take to land a job?

Dan17uk:
Booked sometime in March this year. With that said I’ve paid for Medical and already had Cat C Provisional on the licence at the time of booking. That’s what i meant a while ago.

Not interested in opinions about HGV Express. I asked for the opinion about the above driving school i’ve linked up there where HGV Express will conduct my Driver training and Practical Exam.

Not interested in taking money back as so far i’ve received good service from them.
Why should i take money back when I’m receiving good service and feel satisfied enough and everything is made for me.
Do not have to deal with DVLA to book my tests and do not have to Book anything they do this for you.

Plus from what I see here everyone is hating HGV Express. But i think this is for no reason as they take care of their customers as well as private companies with the Trucks.

why many do not like them is because the punter ends up paying out more than they have to and they often get delayed with the training so that these type of brokers can gain interest off their money
Another trick they use is to give you the training at just less than all the others but give you a day less for your money

You are happy enough with your experience so that’s fine - its your money and your choice to pay out more than you need to

Virtually every real training school can book all your theory and practical tests for you without charging you extra - many also provide free theory training

I don’t usually like posting anything that involves being negative in anyway, however on this occasion I have no choice. You came on here asking for opinions and people told you the reality of your situation and it seems you only want to be told what you want to hear.

The reason you’ve found the service to be good so far is because the brokers will do anything to get your money, once they have it generally that service will disappear. Let’s hope come the 15th May we’re all wrong and they have arranged AND PAID for your practical training.

As for sending them your CV so they can get you that £12 an hour job well its not going to happen. See comment above regarding the situation of once they have your money, because even if they do sort your training they certainly won’t get you a job! Genuine trainers and training companies like Pete Symthe will certainly point you in the direction of agencies or companies who give new drivers a chance but there’s no guarantee!

Also as Pete says there’s a slight difference in rates in different parts of the country but £12 an hour for a class 2 driver, very unlikely and especially as a new one, class 1 with experience then yes there’s a fair chance on nights or if you go down the Ltd company route. Realistically on day rates Mon - Fri where I live class 1 varies from 9.50-11.75 an hour. Not sure of class 2 as never done it but it will be less than that so not the £12 you were told!

My training provider arranged everything for me at no extra cost - from medical HPT & theory the use of dvd books etc to training & this was with a reputable company

Sometimes brokers will say they have arranged your training but then at the 11th hr it is delayed

Just some of the things that have happened through brokers & sorry if you dont like the negativity but that can be also constructive criticism

Or do you work for HGV Express

Have you been to visit the company in person

As I could make a nice website like that not hard these days

Why do i get the feeling there is something fishy going on here ref the op and his second ever post.

Well, a bit of curious googling on the LGV Training Academy…

In Autumn 2012 they are mentioned as moving into their current site, and the wording implies they are themselves a new company. There are other clues to it being new, the article includes a mobile phone number and a btconnect email address, i.e. didn’t have their own domain yet.
http://grovetechpark.com/downloads/GTP_News_Autumn_2012.pdf

The LGV Training Academy LLP will provide a comprehensive
training service for drivers of heavy goods vehicles of any
standard. Under the supervision of Transport Manager Colin
Emsden, the Academy will accommodate all levels of driver
training up to the ‘Certificate of Professional Competence’
licence. A proportion of all training is classroom work on
procedure and regulations which takes place at GTP.

(removed paragraph that I think is misleading about DSA registration)

Richard Morgan says that there is an urgent need for
professional driver training on this scale in Oxfordshire.
“We will offer a superior, all round one-stop shop for professional
commercial driving licences” he says.

They are currently advertising for freelance LGV instructors. Not sure this is a good sign. Hoping against hope this doesn’t mean that the OP has gone to a broker and is being sent to a different sort of broker where instructors pay a fee for use of the facilities and get work allocated.
