Why stay in a job you hate

I’ve left jobs where I lose the will to live with the boredom and monotony but after a break went back ( that’s the beauty of some agency jobs ) then there are the jobs that get sold to you with the potential earnings etc and we run 100% by the book ( but you’ll need to know how to fiddle this and that to get it done ) then you get the job you’ve done adhoc (agency) in the past and never really thought about it again and then all of a sudden they take on drivers to which you apply and get the job… a nice simple job of load and go, tip and load and return, drop trail fuel up and go home :open_mouth: a nice simple no pressure job, salaried pay ,full sick pay , full PPE, no nights out , part costs for your medical , no-one ringing asking where you are what you doing etc . and best of all no pressure to do more than your planed rota.
If I don’t like a job I move simple.
I’ve done the agency rounds long enough to know where I will and wont work …

It’s brave to chuck in a job - when you’ve got another job to go to.

It has to be even braver still to quit - when you don’t. :bulb:

that’s why if you’ve ever used agency its always good to leave on good terms

In less that three weeks time I will be leaving a job with RM a where I’ve been employed for more than three decades. Am I confident in finding new employment ? Of course I am. I have had a relatively secure job in all this time but now there’s a shortage of truck drivers feel confident in picking up another job.

I left RM in 2010. Jan-April 2011 was crappy with hardly any work out of various agencies.

These days I’m flat out at just one single agency. There’s no shortage of work around these days - decent work too.

What area do you want to work in?

The jobs we hate tend to pay good money. I hate starting at 4am but I’m normally home by 3pm and I go to varied locations and know weeks in advance what I’m doing. I hate doing the manual work mainly because it’s knackered my back but also lazy ■■■■■■■ bakers who sit on their arse watching you carry stuff needlessly upstairs winds me up no end.
Delivered to a pizza house yesterday where Abdul sat there staring at us the whole time- never offered to help stack, hold a door open, or ■■■■ all.
I’ve been “made aware” of a couple of tipper jobs but I’m gambling on something better coming along…

I have stayed in a job previously, where I reckon I was about 75 quid a week light in my wages for what I was doing. But I loved the guys and girls I worked with. The customers were all great, and the job wasn’t too bad either.

But you couldn’t pay me enough to be in a job I hated.

I have just left a job after 5 years that I hated with a passion, it was really getting me down so I set myself a date and quit without another job to go to, I am now on agency work and a lot happier

I’ve done that Roy not because I hated the job but I just needed a change for a bit mind it was agency work but long term contract … had a break for a year and was lucky enough to go back on it later …

A mate of mine absolutely hates his job,it affects his life and his health as he is under constant pressure…last year he was put on medication due to work related stress and is on very average money doing crap work.
Now I have mentioned to him a few times about good jobs that come up here and there and various adverts I see but he does nothing about it and stays put.
I really can’t understand why if your that unhappy you don’t move.
How many other drivers stay in a job that grinds them down??

Just over a week ago I jacked a job that was paying me 30k+ planning, it was just not worth the stress and the grief it was causing at home. Best thing I have done.

I’m on good money if other class 2 jobs are a comparisson. This is making it hard for me to decide what is best. Good money and home early, plus only averages at one night out per fortnight. Downside is the physical work, and early starts.

every driver at my depot are thinking off jacking 30k ayear bad planning and all had enough cant get drivers on agency that lasts a week so ■■■■ job

Planning is a doddle I think, sit on your arse all day in front of a computer warm, dry & clean, bottomless hot drinks, talk zb & think of ways to zb drivers over:)

As has probably been said, if you work for a bad organisation, they can make you feel worthless and make you lose some of your self esteem (works in their favour, of course) so the get up and go to find another job just ain’t there.

I’m lucky, pallet multidrop with the folks I was with was a nightmare (and thats a story for another time) but I had a chat with a previous employer and he welcomed me back - I was so lucky, my healths improved and I now feel that I can cope with whatever the day will bring, no lying awake at 3am dreading the commute and what I will find at the end.

Life really is too short - it’s not so bad if the moolah is good but if it isn’t, it can be a recipe for health probs including depression etc. because its all down to self worth, doing a good job for somebody and getting the feeling that they are just taking the ■■■■ can be very corrosive.

Things are bucking up, most freight yards around Southampton have boards outside asking for C and CE blokes (or blokesses) so look around, must be the same most areas.

There’s many firms up here wanting men that iv told my mate about but he does nothing,I know how bad the job is as I did it myself for 5 years and It was terrible, but he just says he will leave but never does,he then rings me nearly in tears about the job it gets to him that much.

Is it misplaced loyalty? I’ve worked with people who can’t possibly comprehend that they’re just a number in a company, big or small. I’ll be honest and say I have had no loyalties in my last 3 jobs. Even in this one I’m here to deliver flour, no interest in milling, baking etc. If a customer starts on about problems with product I tell them it’s nothing to do with me, I’m just a driver and forget them, not caring if I never go there again. I regard my job as a business decision and nothing more. They pay me an agreed rate and provide acceptable conditions and I will work for them. If someone offers something more attractive, or conditions within my employment deteriorate then cheerio.
Loyalty is earned, or bought. In my experience it’s bought.

if i dont like a job i’m doing then i dont stay i find another job and move on, lifes too short too be unhappy
