Why no more glass windows in back of the cab

We have them on our Volvos… Small window and curtains. Go to some silly tight blind places though, avoiding one accident will probably pay for it.

I have no idea what that means ?

The arrow is pointing “Upwards” to indicate that I agree with “This” post…

I guess those who say they are better than to need windows all round dont have to turn round with a wide load on when its peeing it down when the mirror can’t see the edge of the load or all the parked cars ect ,i know when ive been so close to things you cant see a gap in the mirror a quick glance through the rear window saves you getting out or needing watching.

Hiya…at one time their was a spaite of people geting into cabs and nicking stuff through the rear cab windows.
just jump onto the catwalk cut the rubber out with the glass, then the telly was gone off the bunk.
the scammell cheese gratier cab was good in summer, 7 glass windows for the sun (remember the sun)to roast
you, always a good all over tan.

sorri from blind side

those windows are dangerous
i uncoupled the trailer once
and when i pulled off the yellow air lead came flying through the back window
and nearly took my head off

think it got caught on something as i pulled out

Of the trucks I drive or have driven, the one which is most beneficial is in the rigid beavertail as with the rear tag raised, the tailswing is phenomenal and it doesn’t half help missing offside gateposts at farms or road signs on narrow single track lanes.

Personally I never liked the back window on tractor units it always felt like someone was looking at the back of me head, yes they could be useful on a blind side reverse but I’ve always managed since they’ve stopped fitting them , my boss would have them fitted if we wanted and has on other blokes truck as our yard has a tricky blind side manoeuvre but they never look right when they’ve been done.

Here you go Tangoboy , this truck was driver by the late Den Thompson , Den had his curtains pulled across his windows most days so i think he may have been on a flat trailer running up to taking this trailer .

They have replaced them with the glass bits on the front.

They are called mirrors.
