Muckaway:
You dont need to sheet unless there’s a risk of the load blowing off or it’s a dry processed load under 200mm. So for the benefit of the ignorant, that excludes any tipper carrying sand or ballast;
Utter bollox. You HAVE to sheet sand down if there’s a risk of it blowing.
But then again, you’re a typical ■■■■■■ tipper driver…

you need help my friend , carry on with your rant if it makes you feel better … bless …
p.s , it may be a good idea to have a think about what you are saying , i mean , i know 5 year olds that can come up with better insults than " ■■■■■■ tipper driver " would you like to try again ■■..
The lawyers know that they have 3 (or is it 4?) years to process any claim. Your boss knows this too. He can either pay out straight away or hand it over to the sharks and risk incurring costs whilst the leaches string it out to squeeze as much money out of anyone they can.
i agree,
■■■■■■ tipper drivers,
■■■■■■ stobart drivers,

Interesting topic this. I was on tipper’s for 20+ years and we HAD to sheet every load (company policy, plus we were in a National Park and had to keep them sweet for any future planning applications!) but a lot of the surrounding quarries didn’t bother with a “rug” and you would find chipping’s at every corner. We were paid 11/4 hours extra for each load to include loading , sheeting and tipping (13/4 hours for coated stone) so couldn’t complain really, to be truthful I would sooner sheet than keep looking in the mirror to make sure that nothing was blowing off especially sand which we fetched back in from Meriden for the asphalt plant, it was ok when wet but a pain when it began drying out. Now, as Nathan has said, the quarries around here will not allow anyone in the back of the body at any time, though of course you can still sweep out after you have tipped on site. Glad to be out of the job in some ways with all the H&S rules.
The biggest problem likely to cause damage were stones trapped between the rear wheels, I have had to loosen the nuts in the past to free rocks trapped, however the only time that I have been accused of damaging a car was when my number was phoned in from Barton Under Needwood stating that a stone had broken a windsreen! The TM started to give me a bit of a rollocking until I pointed out to him that my load was delivered into Sheffield, 40+ miles in the opposite direction! Didn’t get an apology of course, but it made me chuckle a little.

Um, read the post properly when you’re not polishing your spotlights in your own time…If you’re carrying sand that’s capable of breaking a windscreen I suggest you look in the back of the body…You’ll find you loaded at the wrong stockpile.
Such a typical ■■■■■■ tipper driver that’s stupid enough to work for a firm that’s a 10 minute cycle ride down the road, pays the mortgage on a £180000 house on a 5 day week/as many breaks as I want/2 weeks off at Xmas/days holiday pay is 11 hours/95% MOT pass rate/driver CPC paid for…
Yes, I’d love to swap that to sit around in a shark cage at an RDC for 2 hours…gay spotlights or not
And management that apparently don’t give a monkeys that I set the cruise to 40 and fanny watch…
It’s very rare to see a tipper driver driving properly. They don’t get their ■■■■■■ name from driving at the speed limit and obeying all the road laws do they?

and you sir have fallen for the biggest mythe in transport , how the hell can having a tipper body at the back of your cab suddenly make you a worse driver … and dont fob it off answer the question … using your bullcrap anybody who drops a curtainsider off the back of thier tractor unit and slide under a bulker would become a bad driver , how does that work …
too many clever people on this forum sprouting crap they know nothing about as fact , so , answer the question smart ■■■ …
and just incase you are another one who dont understand the question i’ll ask it again … READY ?

The fact is when you pay a driver per load it’s only a matter of time before greed sets in and the highway code gets thrown out the window. Are you going to argue with that?

yes i am and heres why … now remember i’m quoting facts here not rediculous childish drivel…
in 1994 i took and passed the c.p.c course and remember being told ." that in no way can you offer any sort of temptation to a driver to break the law " in other words you cant tempt them to push it to far , that i’m afraid is fact and unless that law has changed i dont see how it can be done … but , we still dont have facts as to why all of a sudden , haing a tipper body , in what ever form turns you into a bad driver … still no facts , and still people sprouting total and utter tripe that any 5 year old can do … so you carry on , and when someome can be grown up enough to show me the facts i’ll show some interest … think about what you are saying , it makes no sense at all …

The law also says don’t speed and don’t run bent so does that mean those two things never happen?

How come them naughty farmers running on red diesel get out of your rant
There are tipper drivers and bulk drivers. I ran grain once, for a short time until I realised that if your face doesn’t fit you will never get anywhere. If you didn’t sweep out after a change of load then, you would get the next load rejected.
well according to some on here i must be one of the biggest tossers out there as i,ve driven tippers and worked for stobbies!!!
btw never had an accident no points never run bent ect ect…
tipper drivers will always get a bad name but how come majority of wagons that have gone over on a daily basis are not tippers??
to me tipper work is entirely different to the driving i was doing at stobs, and to be fair i was pushed more and got more stressed at stobs trying to meet deadlines ect that i never get currently doing tipper work…
stobs was a lot of motorway d/carriagway stuff, tipper work for me is local stuff runnung the same route maybe 5+ times a day which may explain that to some tippers always seem to have their foot down, we get used to the roads we are driving…
I have done a variety of class 2 work and would say that tipper work is the easiest work going.None of the bosses have encouraged me to run bent and the quarries dont let you leave until you are sheeted, nowt wrong there.
