First Christmas do of the year, just outside Stratford. Can’t believe it’s started already!
Actually, it was great, as it is every year - many thanks to Daf Trucks. ![]()

Did the DJ play dadading dadading dadading just to make the DAF drivers feel welcome?
Wife just sent me a pic of her after getting ready for her office Xmas do…(got to say she looks beautiful btw
) an all paid for by firm 3 course meal…although knowing the wife she’ll leave 2 thirds of it, so I told her to pack not a ‘doggy bag’ but a ‘Robby bag’
…she didnt appreciate it btw.
In comparison I’m sat here at Avonmouth after 2 bloody soakings, in me undercrackers in the cab drinking a can of Guinness with a dodgy night heater…life aint fair .![]()
Xmas parties!
That probably deserves it’s own thread.
Ours is week on Saturday meal out and drinks paid for by the drivers themselves…no contribution ftom firm.
…needless to say
Told them I was washing my hair that night…I may even bump into them whilst out with my mates😳
Ah wtf.![]()
Best co Xmas do I had was in 98, the firm took us for a weekend pi55 up in Blackpool, food laid on and tickets to see Jim Davidson…all paid for
Difference between a good firm who appreciates you and a bunch of greedy ■■■■ s.
My last company had a Christmas do the year just after I left… At least I think they were celebrating Christmas.
The two previous companies were…very lively affairs. In hotels with dinner, dancing and bar all free for drivers, office etc and all spouses. Rooms at drivers expense, so always the choice to get a lift, taxi, or stay sober to drive home, and pay zilch.
Amongst the usual we had at least one police visit for assault, a car crashed and abandoned (on the way there) one WAG tipping a full pint over another, wives lost and husbands searching for them, WAGs negotiating the next pay rise with the boss sat on his lap, etc etc.
More Brian Rix farce than anything to do with road transport.
A challenging ■■■■, but I managed
The edited bit sounded like rank, but you get the idea
Wow!
That sounds like my kind of party.![]()

The Rock and Roll lifestyle ![]()
Not always good for a social venue to keep calling the Old Bill.everytime there s a ruck,it can affect their next licence appilication, that’s why most venues even some pubs, employ security…
You’re a big lad man you should have offered yer services and sorted out the 'riff raff earned a few quid.![]()
Hey ya should a belled me I’d have doubled up ‘on the doors’ with ya,… we could have been like Max and Paddy…Or The Two Rons. ![]()
The driver who was asked to accompany the officers to the nick, was previously, he often told us, a doorman at a club.
“Smiffy” described him as a “well balanced man”:
Being a shortarsed Yorkshireman he had a chip on both shoulders!
Wow !!
Franglais after a few hours after first reading that, I’ve just finally realised what you meant.
I’ve just noticed we’ve actually had a civil friendly and jokey TN conversation…![]()
To explain …I’ve got to admit and confess that when I read the post originally about the party I had it in my head that Maoster had actually posted it., not you … I thought it was HIM referring to HIS party.
…hence the ‘‘doormen’’ suggestion .
Could this be the start of something new?..well it IS Christmas.![]()
Maybe we should stay clear of discussing politics although I can’t promise that.![]()
We will see what does (or doesn’t develop) …and how long it lasts…Any bookies on the forum? ![]()
