So your suggesting the fact they paid there drivers £600 a week was the reason they went bust yea your right we did earn (600) a week, and more, but I think you’ll find there was a lot of other reasons they finished other than just drivers wages ,but by all means blame the drivers you’d never believe we were just drivers sometimes, the amount of companies we bring crashing down would you

you couldn’t make it up !!!

The problems with Stobarts are the same as any other family firm that grows too big to remain a family firm.
The pen pushers get in and balls it up. The Stobart family are a haulage family, Just one member of that family probably know more about the haulage business than the entire board of directors, executives, managers, and supervisors put together.
Pen pushers give praise to people in different departments that make savings here and there. What they actually do is shift expenditure to another department or depot. That department then does the same, But the pen pushers don’t realise this as they are too busy patting one another on the backs for a job well done.
The origional family members that no longer control the company would have looked at the whole picture and seen the problems before they arose.

but they should of seen it coming :open_mouth: five years ago :unamused: when they first bought irlams out! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: pen pushers Donald ducked it :sunglasses: and I did tell William three years ago! :bulb: NOBODY LISTENED :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

He never said it was the drivers fault

akaday:
Innovate was Pete Osborne, it was bound to go ■■■■ up!! 'twas a big fiddle.

I’m sure that Pete sold Innovate Logistics to the Icelandic Shipping Line, Eimskip, before
Innovate ceased trading.

Anyway, last I heard, Pete was involved with TRC Truck Rentals in Sheffield.

dle1uk:
does anyone really believe that there is,nt a link between irlams (redlorries) restarting and Stobs have financial probs, you will see stob jr driving a red lorry at some point…

They have driven the price of haulage so low in the UK that even they cannot make any money out of it anymore

Its about time the biggest companies in the UK started paying the right price for haulage and get the whole sector back off of its knees

Pete sold innovate group to Eimskipafélag Íslands, aka emskip, who bought it without fully knowing the full ins ands outs because of that when emskip found issues , they had to fold xl holidays /airlines and sell off (which they owned also) to cover the balance, on the blaim of airline fuel prices (not may people are aware of the connection between innovate - emskip- XL leisure group )

pete now owns ans is running TRC rental and thegreen-group.com/

m4rky - when a cleaner at stobart hq gets more money than a driver , that says it all doesnt it

No money in haulage, too many people doing it, you try putting the price up to cover increased costs and someone under cuts you in the hope they can put the price up in the future without being undercut and repeat ad finitum.

You’d have to be nuts to buy shares in Stobarts.

they’ve NEARLY won the race to the bottom   but I think I know what will finish them this year! :sunglasses: going to cost them £MILLIONS! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: then I’ll be grinning like a Cheshire cat :stuck_out_tongue:

Empty running and poor planning is what kills big companies. The Smaller firm wins on the money front as an accountant run firm won’t spend a fiver to save a tenner as the £5 isn’t in the monthly budget

“Calling Mr Bewick!,calling Mr Bewick!!”

I’ve no comment to make other than I’m glad I saw the light last August and buggered off.

You are spot on right, all these big companies run by CA’s nowadays , company that bought us out here had an operating system that cost millions, but basically only calculated the Turn over not the net profits . go figure.

Neither am i but I did spot a couple of minus points, accident rate gone up, profits down, even though they have sold off some real estate for profit. One thing I did notice was that the shareholders price has risen, so the investors will be happy

Very easy to drive the price of haulage down, just try and bring it back up again, it won’t happen
