emmerson2:
In our borough, (Torfaen,South Wales) on the stretch of road north of our village the litter is obscene. But this not all down to litter-louts, who, IMO should have their fingers removed one by one, but by the rubbish collectors. After collecting, they steam down this road to the tip, scattering bags of rubbish and plastic all the way down the road. Complaints either to the main office or the local councillors fall on deaf ears. They are more concerned with fining people who let their dogs off leads.
The road is the major route to Big Pit, the area’s main tourist attraction which has thousands of foreign visitors every year. I also wonder what the tourists think of our filthy valley.
TWW Third World Wales.
I find that offensive, and untrue. They’ve got Teletext AND Ceefax now!

Not many wheelie bins though.

If you change two letters in the name Llanelli you get the word landfill, a very appropriate description of the place.
Absolutely right, we are all responsible it’s shameful the amount of litter you see.
Wrong. I never litter and in fact regularly pick up litter that ends up anywhere near Beaver Towers.
People who litter are usually thick as two short planks and have no pride whatsoever. I agree with Rob, get the creatures that do not contribute picking up the litter.
some years ago myself, misses and young son were driving along at the back of a skip wagon overflowing with rubbish with no security nets on it when a huge rubber ■■■■■ came flying off of it and bounced off our windscreen.
we were a bit shocked and taken by surprise as it was obvious what it was so i said, was that a big bird that bounced off our windscreen,my misses said,no,it was a massive bluebottle.
we were taken aback when the wee voice from the back seat said" well whatever it was,it had some size of ■■■■ on it.!!

And we showed the French how to play rugby last night!
The smallest bump and the road is closed for several hours people don’t want mess in their cars so they toss it also nip down the embankment to pee and zb. I often see overflowing bins.so what to do with the stuff?

Good on you, eagerbeaver. Not many would do that these days.
Go to the services at Beaconsfield on the M40 since it opened a Witherspoon pub , it has become a gathering spot for all the chavs and G Kyle stars . The rubbish in the place overnight looks like the local tip after a gale .
If you go to any area that has fast food outlets the trail of rubbish runs for a couple of miles along every road . Add in the proliferation of urban foxes that scavenge and scatter rubbish and it doesn’t take long for an area to deteriorate.
If you look along the verges, quite a lot of the “litter” is lightweight material like plastic material that has swirled out of skips, roll off bins and bulk waste trailers. We transport our waste by road considerable distances and many of those vehicles have inadequate netting to prevent the turbulent air picking up straggly material.
There is also quite a lot of insulation, buckets and other assorted bits of lost loads that fly off builders transits etc.
Whilst not having any time for the lazy tossers who clog the place up with littering and fly tipping, quite a lot of it is there unintentionally by bad load security, or poor vehicle design.
I was recently driving on the M40 and a car came in all the way from lane 3 into 1 in front of me so the male driver’s passenger (a female) could throw her coffee cup onto the hard shoulder, then they went back to lane 2->3. This is the one time I felt like if my truck wasn’t speed limited I would’ve caught up with them and rammed them out of existence…
Today i saw 2 litter pickers on the nb section of A1 half a mile south of Peterborough services
Thing is, that motorway section is quite tidy anyway, they should have gone 2 mile north where road goes back into dual carriageway because that is where the verges are swimming in litter.
