Have to say I love it. I had the red Volvo before and I was reluctant to jump out of it, but this Daf is something else. It’s so smooth and quiet and effortless. Obviously a bigger living area than the FH, and the bunk is just epic. The basic dash layout hasn’t changed much since the 95. Just been modernised. Who ever designed the seat and driving position must’ve had me in mind because it’s spot on.
The auto box has been updated since the 105, and while it’s still not as good as the i-shift it’s not far behind. Once you get used to its ways and work with it, it’s fine. The exhaust brake is good too. It’ll pretty much stop you if you’re running light at low speed.
Power wise there’s not much difference from the Volvo which was a 520. Sarn bank at 40t both were down to 45. She seems to lug better than the Volvo, although being ‘only’ a 460.
Personally I wouldn’t swap it for anything else. We had a Merc Gigaspace on demo which I had for a few days which was really nice, and if I was offered the choice, after a long think I’d go for the Daf.
If you think its up with the merc it must be good ,i havent seen a bad report about the new merc yet ,i see yeardleys just got 13 and raving about them ,whats daf like on fuel
i bet you get a few people wanting a nosey at it they dont seem to be takin off that quick ,strange because it was the first of the big cab trucks to be brought out,it must be the daf people not pushing hard enough

Hey seth did you read this month’s truck and driver about s.d.m transports New daf xf510 vs there scania r560

Yes m8 ,if u google um they have got a facebook page and there is some nice photos on it for u m8,

Apparently it’s only recently they’ve been available in 6 wheel form, which would explain why there’s not many about. I’m averaging 10.6 according to the dashboard, and yes, there’s been more than a few people wanting a nose. Some seem disappointed that it’s pretty much the same inside while others are wowed. But they all agree it’s a nice place to be, and the new touches make it even better.
Another beautiful new daf haven’t seen a bad one yet
