Who do you drive for????

I work for Nykola Hryziuk Haulage on powder tankers on a dedicated contract to Tarmac Dry Silo Mortars, working out of the Meriden Plant.

Only been there 2 weeks but I know Kola very wll, he’s a great boss, anything needs doing it gets done at either the main dealer or a local repair firm. Several very good perks, and decent kit, pay 26k + expenses

Best part is that on this contract you are your own boss, no bookin times, arrange your work with the batcher and do it how you want.

i work for clarks brewery in wake field. delivering there golden nectar to lincs, notts derbys south yorks &liecestershire.money crap but its a good laugh ,& loads of free beer.no grumbles really.

Wow i hope if i pass my class 2 on the 12th i get a job as good as some of these…but seriously is class 2 a lot less pay than class 1   …but there again i’m hoping to do class 1 as well anyway     .
Thanks for all your’e replies…much appreciated

Hey Ali, I drive one of the new Freightliners, the ones you are thinking of have the tim\ny cabs and tiny windows, and are extremely cramped, tiny speedo and huge sterring wheel, well that isn’t what I drive…lol.

My truck is about as close as a US built truck will prolly ever get to a Euro truck, its not a Volvo, but I guess its the next best thing.

Stuart

We took delivery of three new Columbia’s with condo sleepers this week, I turned one down and chose to keep my Volvo. On thursday I actualy test drove one after being presssured by one of the drivers, I was very impressed :exclamation: It has a ‘Euro’ style dash with very large windows and extreemely comfortable to drive, the sleeper is huge, the bottom bunk is 48" wide and the top bunk is 36" wide, it has a proper wardrobe with closing doors, space for a fridge, other closets, a very big pull out office desk which opens up into sections.
But still I have kept the Volvo :sunglasses:

We’ll have to have an auction for the ‘JonBoy’ title then :grimacing: Whoever coughs up the money gets the title and the others will have to find a more original name :grimacing:

Now your talking, and the proceeds could buy a turbo for the site.

i’m still searching for that permanent dream job of good money, good wagons, easy jobs, etc etc etc

alas i’m on the agencies, £8 days, £10 after 6pm £12 o/t time and a half after 8 hours, 8 hrs guaranteed, normal agency rules down here.

The agency i work for is a word of mouth agency and i’m very happy with them, they’ve kept me going pretty much day to day give and take a couple of days here and there for the last three months and they even manage to accomodate the fact that i have a 1 yr old son and that i’m a full time mum too. FANTASTIC, what other employer would be so kind?

Have even refused a full-time position with didgy shift patterns to stay with these guys.

I know, i know, i’m mad… won’t be the first time it’s said. BUT is money everything or is job satisfaction more important?

Cianara!

I have been working for this company for almost two months, they are a london based company called “Lawsons”.
So far brilliant, managers fully support the drivers, the hours are basic 50,but the pay is probaly the highest in the building supply industry :sunglasses:
Most of my work involves craining off loads of timber and insallation for loft convertions which is the companies main customer base,we also do alot of heavy side to

I work for a company called ‘Cornwell & Son’. Only got 3 motors, and are permanantly subbing for another local haulier ‘Manchetts’. Mostly Multi Drop. Anywhere in the country, between 1 and 20 drops per run.

I average 1 night out per week, and probably get about 60-65 hours in, bringing home about £410 per week.

Get £5.73 per hour for first 8 hours, time and a half after that, and all day saturday. NO sunday work. £25 night out money, all parking, tolls paid for.
Get £5.25 per drop bonus after the first 4 drops in a day.

4 Weeks holiday, and the boss is a diamond geezer. Wagons are checked over fully every week. Serviced twice as often as neccesary, and anything that you are not happy with is fixed immediately.
In fact I am getting a bigger fuel tank next week as I thought a 60 gallon tank was a big useless for long distance work !!

I got a 52 reg Scanny R cab 420. comfotrtable to drive but wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding. We also have one other R cab (04 reg), and an x reg ERF EC11, which is due for replacement soon.

Boss wont let us run over time even by an odd minute. He would rather we stop, and he will come out to about an hour from the yard to fetch us in !!

Handy for those friday nights when you’ve pushed your luck to get home.
