Whites Transport to cease trading

Good luck for whatever the future holds for Ray and for you Pete, I noted with interest your comments on Brexit and its effect on your company, unfortunately as it was made on FB some of the rabid remoaners here will not get a chance to hear it from a man who deals with the effects day in day out in the real world. May be worth repeating here Pete?

Good point. No doubt Frangers will twist what was said to suit his agenda along with tedious linkage

What? Divert a thread?
Maybe the Brexit thread would be a better place for Brexit comments, Mr Maoster?

Or maybe Brexit is more than a vote that happened 6 years ago, and isn`t “all done”?
It is affecting all of us everyday.

I felt it was relevant in the context of Whites ceasing to trade. I apologise if the sentiments expressed by Pete do not fit your narrative. I’m sure that given enough time you’ll be able to conjure negativity from somewhere.

Wow!
Frangers is actually touting for and advertising the Brexit thread now on other threads. :open_mouth:

He loves my football references :sunglasses:
So it’s a bit like France 98 World Cup where the England team decided to shoehorn in a record title during every interview.

Interview…how did you feel Alan when that goal went in Alan.
'Alan Shearer…'I was on ‘The edge of heaven’ Des.

What do you think of the new model Scania.
Frangers…It would have been better developed if it wasn’t for Brexit…

I love the freedom of movement on the doors, very smooth.

Was that”Back Home”, “World in Motion” or “3 lions”

From what I’ve seen and heard one of the best companies and best transport managers are leaving the business.

Good luck Pete and Ray I reckon you’ve earn’t the R&R.

Shame though as companies like yours just don’t seem to exist anymore.

For me it’s a sad day just because I loved seeing their trucks about. I love Petes banter on Facebook. It just seemed like a bit of a magical company looking outside in.

I’ve seen a lot of chat a book should be written and I really do think there is a market for one so you never know.

Anyway best of luck in whatever is round the next corner for the whole family.

This isn’t an isolated incident, I was told about two hauliers in the north-east who closed shop this week, one wasn’t a company which I was hugely familiar with, but some of you may recognize the name JR Dunn, timber hauliers.

30 years for Ray, 20 years for me. Just felt with the residuals so high for trucks and trailers it was the optimum time to sell up. We have 18 trucks, 29 trailers, majority of the equipment was bought and paid for as we didn’t lease or rent, so a huge chunk of Rays retirement money was in the equipment, Lots of uncertainty for next year as people are talking of a recession, soaring energy prices, fuel prices are still ridiculously high, working as hard as we have for so long, it’s not easy doing what we do. I’ve had hundreds of sleepless nights over the 20 years. Ray will take it easy and enjoy what he has built up, I will take my own path with plans I have put in place, this hasn’t happened overnight, we have been watching the market on used equipment and it’s starting to dip slightly. Timing is right for us, yesterday my phone has never been so busy. Many operators said they completely understand why we are doing it and a few of them said they felt the same. We currently have the best work and rates we have ever had, and made very good money. If we didn’t it wouldn’t have been worth it as it was very hard work. I just made it look easy [emoji23]

We have never been one to bull [zb], this is just a case of take the money and run. Every driver is re located already for new employment, we would have made sure of that anyway. Most of them have been “headhunted”

I will hugely miss this and it genuinely made me sad when I posted it on FB yesterday

There is a difference between giving up and knowing when to stop.

Cheers. Pete
