It is almost always the case that the innocent victim in an accident will suffer increased premiums subsequently.
When you go on line to look for insurance there is always a question along the lines of “have you been involved in any accidents during the last five years?” Nothing about blame. If you are a young driver it can add £1000 to the premium.
If you are tempted to lie then be aware that they all swap information these days. You may get away with it but if you make a claim then they will check.
I would claim, nowadays the basic payout seems to be about £1,800 without really doing a lot, my wife has one on the go but she does have a trapped nerve or inpingement in her shoulder but they won’t do nothing till March 2013 when the 2 yrs will be up. They keep offering her money but untill she’s fit she’s not excepting a penny.
It’s a shame that the insurers don’t have a “didn’t claim for personal injury” box to tick when assessing your risk.
I wouldn’t claim as your not injured and you can keep your pride, don’t be like all the rest of the fraudsters who do claim just because everyone else does!!
Saaamon:
Last year i had someone drive into me whilst waiting at a t-junction in the car, didnt hit very hard but the car needed repairs etc, i was asked at the time whether i wanted to claim for injuries and said no as i was fine just abit shaken. Following this i got royally f’ed over by the insurance companies and despite being proved it wasnt my fault my premuims still went through the floor.
Fast forward to now and over the last few weeks i’ve had no end of calls asking if i want to claim, ive only answered a couple and told them no again but its bloody tempting to just so i can claim back all the extra money i’ve had to pay with insurance and as im quite young its obviously gone up alot!
I know its morally wrong and i probably wouldnt do it but what would you lot do? Once the claim is “spent” (takes 3 years) i’ll have had to pay an extra 750 to a grand roughly.
“i shall now reach for my hard hat”.
Claiming in circumstances such as these is among the most common reasons for insurance premium hikes. The person that said it won’t affect us if you claim…sorry mate you’re wrong. The money people claim for none existent injuries comes, not from the insurer but ultimately from the premium payer i.e. All of us…so claim to gain but suffer pain on renewal day thanks to all the people who claim for no reason other than greed…
Honesty is penalised these days. 2000 years ago people would be penalised for being moral full stop, but in these days of the popular irreligious, people need something else “not to believe in” so the legal, financial, & political systems have replaced organised religion, with celebrity culture replacing the godheads of old.
Fight it, go with it, or be destroyed by it. You can’t stand still though - that’s for sure.
If you don’t claim, a claim will be made against you. Eat or be eaten. Go with it, or be destroyed by it.
FIGHTING it is well nigh impossible alas. You need to be of great influence and wealth to even get listened to as a “public curiosity” these days.
Got rear ended whilst stationary, between 20-30 mph…had to have the roof cut off the vehicle because i had neck/back pain and they got me out on a spinal board!
I was truly amazed by the amount of firms clamouring for this business…just google “cashback personal injury” and you will see what i mean!
Do you want why you are getting asked to claim - see your insurance company not the 3rd parties - they sell on your details to claim solicitors, even if you have only informed them (ie no claim)
How do I know - we had a taxi run into one of our trucks (not a mark on our vehicle - taxi was a right off), I rung the taxi company - he says lets sort our own damage out, I agree but tell our insurerers as they have requested.
A couple of weeks later get a claims company asking if we want to pursue injuries and un insured losses, I missread the letter and get on to taxi company and give a right earbashing - he replies “I have not contacted my insurerers, I have scrapped the car so can’t be me”
Yours and mine Insurance companies sell your details to the claim companies and get a kickback if a claim is paid out - they all stab each other in the back and we all pay in the long run
I had qan incident this time last year, a car with an old boy at the wheel hit the front of the lorry on a b road, his fault , he was going to fast, i was fine but was advised by the works insurance consultant to put a claim for personal injury in as if I didn’t this could be seen that I was braced for impact & could of done more to avoid it! I filled in a form & forgot about it … when I came to renew car insurance there was a huge increase & when queried it they said that as I was involved in an incident that is on the insurance motor database I’m an at risk driver , I said it wasn’t my fault the driver hit me, it seems it doesn’t matter that it was even a works vehicle , the fact is my name is against a claim on the database, any just last week I had a premedical offer of £2750 for the incident so I took & am just waiting for a cheque to arrive , the other guy was trying to claim £27k for all sorts of crap…
If someone admits to being the cause of an accident, and has no dispute, there is no need to contact your own insurance company. It should all be dealt with theirs. Notify your insurance if there is dispute, or the accident is not clear cut.
Your best bet in this circumstance is to contact their insurance company and request compensation for losses incurred. (extra premium). Speak to citizens advice about this. They are the best form of advice.
Has anyone brought down a claims company by exposing them to toxic debts?
(They might as well be radioactives if it’s done properly!)
Eg. refuse to settle, they offer increasing amounts, and it goes to court. Then the case is lost, and you attempt to walk away refusing to pay any idemnities… Since they won you no cash, they’ve got nothing to pay themselves out of, now that the attempt to bill you seperately has failed.
