I thought that but I just can’t place it. Most of the 65 is up and down like a roller-coaster and the only bit I could think of where it splits into 3 lanes is where the A56 junction is, and that is an uphill slip ramp, not a downhill one.

That’s what I’ve been thinking for ages too, but talked myself out of it coz I don’t remember that bridge being there!!
the split from 62 westbound going on to the m6 northbound slip road from right coming from 62 going east please tell me im right 
it looks like its coming out of bolton rob, just as the M61 starts,
just after the slip it goes 3 lanes and almost immediately you can peel off for the A6 into manchester, which i think is the road going over the top.

CORRECT. Previous attempts were very close but this is spot on.(Heading north into Bolton not out of Bolton just after the M61 -A666 split and just before Kearsley roundabout).
