(as a non-truckie aside, I just researched a small unknown yacht that turned out to be called an Assol. It’s a Russian girls’ name (like Lada is) but anyway, I don’t suppose they sold many in the west

How about the Misubishi Starion, it was meant to be called the Stallion, but somebody in the marketing department in America (where else 
) misunderstand the Japanese bloke telling him the name over the phone

I can see them now an eight legger called an Octopus, or a Renault called a Fuego because it should have been set on fire 
But for me it is the exotica that catches my attention, especially the Italian stuff
Biposto sounds ■■■■ when you realise you can carry a gorgeous raven haired on the pillion.
Monoposto conjures up images of a Ducati 916 single seater with desmoquattro or desmodromic engine, which is still the most beautiful motorcycle in the world.
Quattroporte Automatica also sounds too ■■■■ for a four door automatic.
But my favourite wrong name has to be the Wan-kel engined Anadol or Otosan which sounds like something you get from the chemist.
How about the Marina ? it was about the best place for one
