well you are in the right area, but where am i.?
just checked you are too far south.
captmarvel:
not curries trailer park, or A5,nor the hollies,
suedehead you dont know how close you are.
but its not the quernhow
Looking at the pic for the umpteenth time , i reckon you would be S/B . . . on the way to “ship out”
- because the chances of meeting up homeward bound with that lot would be slim.
A1, last time i went in there it was called the “Bistro” but cant for the life of me remember the original name.
Sorry for the rambling . . ime probably wrong anyway
I am going for Barton park then
captmarvel:
where is the boot and shoe?
On the tramps feet ?
I am sure I have been in that place, I have seen those oil drums and posts with the chains between.
Could it be the old lorry park at Wetherby? (Long since gone)
Near the Quernhow and north of the Boot and Shoe?
I’m thinking of that place on the southbound side not far from the Quernhow but don’t know its name, I never really used that bit of the A1 cos to go south I came off the moor and down the A64 to Bramham and north tended to meet it at Scotch Corner. But there was a place on the southbound side. Wagons parked up behind the old coach house.
the bistro is the correct answer,
i too can’t remember what it was called years ago.

Iirc there used to be a "one man band " tyre place next to it?
Was about 100 yards North of it travelling S/B once and had a puncture on the n/s/f and stopped on the exit slip from the cafe.
Quick as a flash, the tyre fitter was on the scene “offering his services” (oo err).
Seemed most ■■■■■■ off when i told him that we carried spares and i would be changing it meself.
Still wonder if he used to chuck nails onto the A1 !!
Still cant remember the original name of the Cafe either
