Quite worrying but last night a driver (agency) who works for the same company as myself (different depot though) asked me in Freightliner Manchester what was the height of the various containers as he " Hadn’t a scooby doo " how high his box was,told me he had been delivering/collecting containers for months with my company,I naturally asked him how he gets on negotiating bridges and he stated " I s**t myself if it looks a bit low " but “guesswork has worked so far” , I smiled at him and showed him the container height card stuck on his overhead locker(standard fitment in all our units).
Whenever a driver has an induction at our depot they are shown this height card and how to alter the skelly length and best working practice, at least the bloke got away with not being a bridge basher for another day !!!
