Beautiful motor to drive, also very fast, always exciting, no two days the same, loads of money, great crack with store staff they are always really pleased to see you, transport office staff always pleasant and informative, yard shunters always very helpful, massive respect given to you by your peers when you’re out on the road, chance to learn a new language or three from you collegues, pick your hours, lovely dawn vistas, take your breaks whenever and wherever you want without question, gorgeous cheap healthy canteen food, I may be wrong though
You are lucky
my Shunting Shift for 2day got cancelled
Don’t mind supermarket work the biggest pain is how the cages and pallets are stacked, pop bottles on top of cardboard boxes, silly stuff like that, and their always seems to be a “silver Circle” off ■■■■■■■■■■ who always get the best runs/trucks/ot etc.

What exactly would be classed as a “plum run” at tescos?
It’s the backloading as a dust cart that does my head in, and that’s on every trip I’ve done so far!
I hear at Morrisons you stick your wagon on the bay, hand your keys in, then get back in the cab and read your newspaper whilst the indoor staff unload/reload it!
That would sure beat turning up just as all bay staff magically have a break timed, leaving a couple of epsilons and yours truly chugging all that gear off in a 13 minute window before you get moaned at by the traffic office, and spend a lot more than 13 minutes trying to explain yourself!
Tip and fill you’re usually given between 45-60 minutes depending on type of shop, taillift or door. Every tesco driver ive ever encountered from livi does not give a ■■■■ about anything what a life man

well its partly true, they only gave a {zb} about working more than they needed to.
but most shops got between 30 mins and an hour depending on location/reload etc etc and if you get some of the little extra stores youll have fun, i know i used to on Kilmarnock road in Glasgow, Used to have to fight for the layby even had some diddy pull in behind me as i was reversing in and with the manager of the store telling him to not park there. still managed to block him in for a good half hour for it
The thread itself specifies Tescos my friend.

But I did not specify Tesco, my friend, I repeat I said I liked “supermarket work” which I do, had I meant Tesco in particular I would have said that, but I obviously meant supermarket work in general, as you are well aware.

It all depends on which RDC you are working from. Some of the rules are petty in the extreme and some of the office staff are little tin gods. Also watch out for the exceptions to the rules “to meet operational requirements”, like parking with the wheels on the pavement so that the shop staff have an easier time with the cages, because no-one can be bothered to put the ramps out to level up the trailer. Shops are also fond of wanting you to park too close to a road junction so that unloading is more convenient for them - you will end up paying the fine. As for load security, the trailer is sealed and you will have a very, very hard job getting it opened if you suspect something amiss. Been there, had 1/2 hour argument with mangement who claimed that fridgevan roller shutters were capable of stopping loose cages from bursting out onto the road. Take care, this company has quite a number of rollovers of which some are put down to poor loading. Easy enough to check out their own staff’s opinions on the website. Try altering their advertising slogan slightly to access it.
Done the job on Agency for three years at different depots some time ago. The best thing about the job is that if you defect a vehicle using the correct procedure, then it will not go out defective unless the fitters sign it off as OK and for later attention. Ambient is a better job than fridge and large stores much better than small high street ones, of which you will likely have three on the load.
