grahamzx6r:
mine was dirty harry, think i was about 12 or 13 at the time, my dad got a harrier cbx, as a xmas present and i ended up putting it in my bedroom with a diapole on the side of the house, still got a cb in the loft, brand new never used it

I had the Harrier CBX, cracking radio. My handle in Liverpool as a teenager was Garfield. When I was posted down south with the army, I used the handle The Northerner.

My handle was the Engine Driver and the other chap who I worked with was called Oilrag. There used to be some decent people about on the old am cb then went to fm but wasnt the same lots of idiots in the towns.
Happy days though Ten ten were gone. :grimacing:

My handle was Hornblower,I was driving for J Pass & Son Chesterfield.I was the first to fit an air horn on the fleet and a keen CB fan across the road from the yard christened me, cos he could always hear me giving my missus a toot when I was on my way back in.

i can remember you hornblower , i was running out of wimpeys darlton with a crane lorry . passes motors did a lot of bricks on flats . i was rigsby , we used to use channel 10 round stoney , always taking the pee out of each other , cheers , dave

Hitch Hiker

Cannonball.

I had this handle from the old am days, can’t remember why this name, probably something to do with the Cannonball Run movie. There was another bloke in Felixstowe who drove for F.J.Pearson who also called himself Cannonball, but I was the original Cannonball in that area.

When I drove for Goodways in Felixstowe we always used channel 23 (Squadron channel) and many a time you’d pass Danny Palmer (Dino) going the other way shouting “Go to squadron channel Cannonball, two three, twenty three, see you there, two three, twenty three Cannonball”! By the time he’d finished saying all that he’d be out of range!

Trying to remember what other firms squadron channels were in Feixstowe,Russell Davies was channel 11 (111 Squadron) I think P&O were on 26,Cowan Bros.on 2…it’s a long time ago!

Even today I still get old mates calling me Cannonball when they see me,although I haven’t owned a cb for many years.
